Need a temporary floor for a gravel floored pole building

Sounds like a good option. My gravel is blue limestone with size ranging from 2B to stonedust. Good angularity so it should pack down very tightly. Will that be the ideal base for a later concrete floor? David

3HP 60 Gal. Ingersoll Rand At Tractor Supply 399.99

Wow, you guys are making me disappointed - I bought the 2hp CH model for $450 in mid-August and would have loved to get the 3hp IR instead. Oh well! As for filter/regulators, check out the ingersoll rand closeouts. You have to download their ARO products catalog to figure out what each one...

Need a temporary floor for a gravel floored pole building

I can't recall seeing gravel packed that tightly before. Not that I've seen much in the world, mind you... Would the power-tamped gravel hold up to jacks and creeper board wheels? Or are you suggesting I tamp then lay the plywood on top?

    IR closeout deals

Question for those of you who got the auto drain option on their filters: should mine leak air when the compressor is running? It doesn't seem to be a major leak as the tank still builds pressure but I would prefer to know I'm not losing air. It might be caused by the vibration when the unit...

What do I do now? New poster

It seems that you can go from rough to smooth but not easily the other way. Plus for liability reasons, if you slip on a wet polished floor they are out of business. Either reason could be why they would give the roughest surface they can.

Need a temporary floor for a gravel floored pole building

Right now my utility building has a concrete pad in the corner but it's not wide enough to park and work over plus the surface is brushed and not good for jacks and creeper boards. I've begun pondering an idea where I lay down some 2x4's on 3' spacing, then level/backfill/tamp with some stone...

Cutting Bicycle brake cables - Tool recommendations

The inner coating will melt when dressing with a dremel, so go slow and it's very simple to reopen the line with the tip of a scribe/pick. Also consider finishing the end of the cable with heat shrink tubing.

Cutting Bicycle brake cables - Tool recommendations

If you're working on road or mountain bikes, the Park cutters are reasonably priced and very effective. I also use a dremel cutting wheel to trim off the extra bit of housing and square up the end of the cable housing. If it's a $60 kids bike you might be fine with a cheaper tool but I do...

    Bought air compressor, need accessories

Spent some (ok, a lot) of time on the IR outlet store. Trying to narrow down a piggyback filter/regulator choice. My compressor has a 3/4" NPT coming off the tank. It would seem to be most robust to add a 3/4" shutoff ball valve and 3/4" piggyback filter/reg. Agree, or should I bush down to...

    Bought air compressor, need accessories

I bought a CH 3hp/220v/60gal from TSC today. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/campbell-hausfeldreg%3B-60-gallon-cast-iron-air-compressor Don't mock - I couldn't justify a 2-stage and I think it will work just fine for me. I have an IR 2131QT 1/2" impact already. But I hate junk...

Installing louvers/vents in metal utility building

Seems straightforward enough. I'll start at the end of the building where nothing important is stored below.

Just you wait - as an engineer I have a bright imagination to worry about things nobody else ever thinks of.

Installing louvers/vents in metal utility building

Hello, I am the new owner of a 30y old metal roof/walled pole building. I'm not sure who designed it, but I think with the roof leaks and single large door, it's become humid like a greenhouse. I open the big door when I can to air it out (and reduce my tools turning to rust) but clearly it...

    New guy in Central PA

Hello, My name is Dave and last month my wife and I moved from a residential development to a 15 acre horse farm. This is my first time caring for a property of this size. The house has a standard two-car garage, but the "real" garage is a 36x80 pole building with metal roof and sides. It's...

    designing a garage/shop need a hand

I agree with the others. I used some Behr floor epoxy that my wife bought from Lowe's. I followed the directions to a tee, waited 3x longer than recommended for the cure, and the weather was perfect. ...it peeled immediately under the weight of a tire. So, yeah, don't skimp on the epoxy.
