    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thanks for the info. I have one of these that I inherited from my grandfather. The only difference is that mine has a Wilton decal where yours is cast. I wonder if mine is a bit newer. My grandfather passed in 1988, so it would be older than that.

    railroad rail anvil

What is a good length for a track anvil? I recently picked up a 24" section of track. I currently have an 8" section that was my grandfather's that I am using for a makeshift anvil. Should I use the full 24" section for an anvil, cut in half, or some other configuration?

Going Rate for a Craftsman Block Grinder

I'm looking for input on what the going rate for Craftsman block grinders is. A pawn shop that I occasionally visit has had one on the shelf for a while at $85. I can't give any other specifics at this time, but I'm wondering if it's even worth pursuing or not. Thoughts (with the limited...

    Ryobi replacement parts

I had an 18V 120W inverter die recently and it was still under warranty. I contacted Ryobi and they said they did not have any available, but could offer a refund. I accepted and immediately went to Home Depot for a replacement (they showed over 400 in stock online). A couple of weeks later...

    Good power steering pulley puller?

Another vote for the Lisle. It has never failed me and the price was right. I'm a bit partial since the factory is fairly local to me.

Home Depot RYOBI Days Sale: 2 - 4ah Batteries + charger + Free Tool for $99

I'm not sure on hacks, but the ratchets are pretty good aside from the size. I have the 1/4" drive and love it for interior work.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Finished up another police equipment installation. I fabricated the sliding equipment shelf in this Charger to keep things secure and organized, while remaining accessible.

    Workshop Aprons, Anyone Use Them?

Same here. It is nice to keep dust off your clothes and have a pencil and ruler close at hand. The apron I use is one I wore in shop class 20 something years ago to keep grime off my clothes.

Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT GrainBelt Garage - An Iowa Garage & the Projects Inside

I couldn't stomach paying JD prices for weights for my mower. I ended up making a rack to hang a 60# flywheel from a 7.3 diesel. Free is great. We recently got a foot of snow that challenged my little 115 JD, so I zip tied a 45# barbell plate to the rack. It was quick and dirty, but it worked.

    *Thorsen Tools*

I have a Thorsen SAE 1/2" drive set that belonged to my grandfather. They seem like very nice tools.

    Agm battery charger recommendations

I recently bought a NOCO Genius charger based on recommendations here. It does lead-acid, AGM, and lithium ion batteries. I am very happy with it so far. It has even brought some old batteries back to life.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I purchased the Athol vise about 25 years ago at a flea market for around $25. I restored it about 7 years ago and it is my primary vise. The smaller vise is a Montgomery Ward that was a rusty orphan at a yard sale with a $1 price tag on it. I couldn't stand to leave it there so I picked it up...

    Where to get Mitutoyo repair

Maybe I should have been more specific. The zero changes every time as well, so rotating the bezel is fruitless. I'll check out some of the suggestions here. Thanks.

    Where to get Mitutoyo repair

I have a 6" Mitutoyo dial caliper that I have had for over 20 years that needs repair. Several years ago I dropped it on the ground and ever since, it has failed to return to zero. Does anyone have a good source for repair, or is it even worth it?

    Kitchen Drawer Tools

I keep a 6 in 1 screwdriver and a 6 foot tape measure in the kitchen drawer. The garage is attached, so anything else that is needed isn't far away.
