Need input: repainting vintage steel shelving?

Greetings, I’m in the process of relocating some 40’s-50’s era steel shelving (24’x3’x7’) and am hung up on whether to repaint them or not. Time & the Midwestern climate have taken their toll: there is light surface rust, chipping paint and general wear & tear. Obviously there’s a lot of...

Floor prep & flattening for laminiate flooring

Thanks for the replies guys! I should have clarified that the low spots (roughly two dozen or so) I'm concerned about are relatively small, as in I could cover one with my hand & I'd guess it'd take less 6oz or so worth of leveler to flatten each one. I thought if the low spots weren't...

Floor prep & flattening for laminiate flooring

Greetings, I've got a loft/mezzanine that I'm interested in putting down some laminate wood flooring & I've decided not to include the foam underlayment as I'm not concerned about the noise & could do without the additional cost. Overall the floor is reasonably flat, roughly 1/16" over 8', but...

Tall Wall Storage pics? Needing examples of vertical space utilization

I’m trying to utilize as much vertical space as possible in an area with 12’ walls, ideally with closed storage. Pallet racks came to mind initially, but I thought there may be other options and/or opinions. Does anyone have an pictures that meet this criteria that might spark some...

Air compressors: Single phase vs Three phase operation

Greetings, I'm considering purchasing a 5hp compressor with the option of single phase 230V or three phase 230V motor & I currently have both 230 single phase and three phase available (through a 20hp roto-phase converter), and was curious as to which would be more efficient in the long run. I...

How far can I span for plywood shelving?

How much sag you could tolerate looking at? Dunno if this would be any help given the choice of material, but its kinda fun to play with: http://www.woodbin.com/calcs/sagulator.htm

connecting walls to metal ceiling, trim recommendations?

Thank you all for your input! I'd been looking for something similar to the foam closure strips, but Google wasnt sympathetic to my lack of proper terminology! :lol_hitti

connecting walls to metal ceiling, trim recommendations?

Greetings, I’m attempting to construct some (non-load bearing) walls going from the floor to a ceiling skinned with steel paneling similar to Menards Prorib, the wall will run perpendicular to the ribs, and I’m looking for some opinions & options for trim to mate up to the paneling, & so far...

    Best storage containers?

I prefer the Rubbermaid Roughnecks as there are four sizes from 7-18gallon with the same LxW footprint. Sterlite & other brands are all over the map regarding dimensions making it difficult to build racks/shelving that use space efficiently.

Using barcodes/RFID and scanner to help organize?

Motorola LS2208 barcode scanners can be had for around $20 on ebay and are fairly easy to setup. Code 39 fonts (with text) are available & can be used with Word/Open Office to print barcodes on Avery labels. I like the 14 gallon Rubbermaid Roughnecks, the smaller size keeps me from putting to...

Fuel so old it was solid!

I've been a longtime fan of Avgas for winter storage and/or anything that might sit longer than planned as it seems to be resistant to varnishing. I bought a bike that sat for >12 years with a half tank of avgas & after draining the fuel from the tank (it was darker, but still not...
