Thanks 1982fxr for the confirmation. It looked right, measured right, weighed right….just no designation.

    Wilton vise identity confirmation

A quick question about identifying a Wilton C3 vise. I purchased this vise today which appears to have all the elements of a C3 without having a C3 casting mark on the static jaw. The only markings I found on quick examination were (1) 10103 above where I would expect the C3 mark; and (2) a...

    Lath, Plaster, and shelving

A "What is the best way to do it?" question. I need to attach a 5/8 thick wood board flat against an existing lath and plaster wall. I am thinking about installing adjustable wire shelving (the kind with the vertical metal rails with lots of little slots) into an existing closet that has a...

let's see your craftsman block grinders

Eyeball, Regarding the label printing - I haven't completely solved that issue yet. Some quick discussions with local printing outfits have indicated that printing onto a plastic sheet with a sticky back is possible. Currently I have an label photo to work with, but I'll have to play around to...

    Unknown wrench markings

All, Thanks for the help - question answered. The British Standard and the Whitworth make sense given the wrench owner had a few British cars. J

    Unknown wrench markings

Conductor562, No soap!, the beam measures 11/16 wide and 1/4 thick. I find it mystifying that the wrench has no obvious markings as to its 13/16 size - only if you know that 1216 is the model number do you know the size - not too user friendly. J

    Unknown wrench markings

Conductor562, Apologies for the poor image. From left to right the marking read as follows: 1/2BS - 7/16W 1216-BS PROTO(R) MFG. U.S.A. J

    Unknown wrench markings

I came across a set of these Proto wrenches with unfamiliar markings. The wrenches are combinations (open on one end and box on the other, the same size on both ends), but I don't know how to read the markings. The wrench in the picture measures out as a 13/16 on both ends. Any help on the...

let's see your craftsman block grinders

Just picked up a 1/2 hp block grinder (397.19591), so now I can join the club. Its a bit beat up and I'd like to do a restore with a new label. Does anyone have a good high res. jpg or pdf of the label? I gave a quick search, but I might have missed it. Thanks. J

    Foley-Belsaw - any good?

What are the opinions of using a Foley Belsaw model 1055 as a light to mid-duty grinder? I believe it has a 4" wheel and a larger 8" wheel coupled to a 1/2 hp 6.2 amp motor? I don't know the arbor size, or if I can mount wheels of other sizes. There seems to be one available for $100. Or...
