What is the exact number for the service wire I need

Agree 100%. 2" worked for me. If 1-1/4" works for you, great but I'd never want to try it!

4 wires? I'm sure it's physically possible, but I wouldn't want to try it after doing it with 2" (with 2 sweeping 90's & an LB), that's for sure!

I'm not an electrician, but did something very similar recently with 2-2-2-4 MHF. You will not pull that through 1-1/4" conduit, use 2" minimum.

    90 Amp Subpanel Question

Wyliesdiesels, thanks for the response, this is very helpful! Yes, it is currently in a breakered disconnect (couldn't remember the term for it). From what I remember, the County made them do that to pass inspection. Doesn't really surprise me at all if that is incorrect after dealing with...

    90 Amp Subpanel Question

I'm looking to do something similar to the thread below with a slight twist, but didn't want to hijack that thread. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/detached-garage-90a-or-100a-subpanel.493166/ When we built our house a few years back, I had the electrician run 100 amps to the...

    Amish Garage Builders? Virginia?

I'm in central VA and used an Amish outfit out of PA to build my 24x40 pole barn last year. They were great to work with and had the building completed in 2.5 days...it was impressive to watch! They did not do concrete work in VA at the time, so I used a local guy for the slab...

Builders / framers ignoring foundation bolts

This! I had the same experience on my pole barn, inspector came out for a foundation inspection and a final inspection. I think he spent a total of 5-10 minutes on site between both inspections, never even looked at the plans other than to sign off.

    metal building build process

That's how all those building manufacturers operate to my knowledge. You have to put at least a deposit down to get the stamped plans. I'd start by talking to the building permit official to see if they've approved other buildings from that manufacturer, most likely that they have. Highly...

    Metal carport suggestions after ripoff

The reason they tell you the slab needs to be larger than the building footprint is because the wedge anchors they use usually need to be at least 2" from the edge of the slab for the anchor to work properly. Very rarely are they ever installed that way.

Garage is making me very sick. Need air quality improvements.

I agree with some others on here, I would start with a CO monitor. I know you said you thought mold was unlikely, but I would get it checked out if nothing else makes sense. My wife got exposed to toxic mold in her office building and is still dealing with side effects years later. It is...

    Amerigas Delivery Issues

My suggestion would be to dump Amerigas & go with a locally owned company. You will most likely get better service and better prices. Amerigas is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with, and that's saying a lot! They do respond fairly quickly to BBB complaints however.

Rafter Vents for 4' Truss Spacing

Does anyone have photos of how they installed rafter vents with 4' truss spacing? Looking for ideas since 24" seems to be the widest available from what I've seen. Was thinking about possibly using house wrap instead of the plastic vents.

    Figuring Trusses Load & Spacing

Below is a link where you can plug in your address and it will tell you your design wind, snow, etc. loads. You would still need to verify with your locality which version of the building code they follow. https://hazards.atcouncil.org/#/
