Greenerd No. 3 1/2 Arbor Press (NTD)

Actually a pretty solid idea. Thanks for the suggestion! Ah, I was probably over-thinking how to handle that then. Yeah, that would seem to help keep the press from wanting to tilt forward when pressing, too. You must have dry climate to house tools outside! We can't do that in my neck of the...

Greenerd No. 3 1/2 Arbor Press (NTD)

@LeeG thanks for sharing. That looks like a pretty simple design. I can't quite tell from this angle, but it looks as though your press has the same V-shaped castings in the bottom; did you have to make a receiving V-shape on the stand to help center and hold the press?

Greenerd No. 3 1/2 Arbor Press (NTD)

I had been looking for a heavier arbor press for a little while, after my 1-ton HF press broke in half near the base. ha! The ones for sale that I come across can be a bit cost prohibitive and/or further away, so I've been kicking tires for quite a while. Even recently bid on a Dake 3-ton press...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Getting a feel for what offers might be accepted is a much better use of time, in my opinion. Saves me a lot of time and trouble for sure. The only time waving cash has ever worked for me is if the seller is more desperate to get rid of things, but in those cases the seller verbalized their need...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Thinking about picking up this Reed 106 R. Jaws are non-replaceable and are somewhat worn. Any guess what's the going rate for one in nice shape?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Picked up a Colmbian 5 1/8" jaw today with numbers that I  believe might be a 205-M2 (or 3?). Guy bought it used in 1980s and used it in his repair shop for 30 years before retiring. Has some decent beatings on it, but I got vise fever and had to find one to cure it. Kinda makes the Reed 105 1/2...

    Reed 106N vise

So still made by Reed at that point sounds like. You'd say the quality is similar to earlier Reeds, too? I was thinking I read that they stopped using the adjustable nut on some thread about the R models. I tried digging through other threads, but thought others might like seeing information...

    Reed 106N vise

A person locally has a 106N for sale, but I have found very little info about the "N" series. I've gathered that they might be later year models, but are they generally comparable to the older Reed offerings? Any rough guesses as to what the market rate is on them? I picked up a Reed 204 and a...

    New Ballitix Single/No Mixing Sealer

I've been interested in trying a ballistix product for a shop building, either traditional mix together or the single component, although some of the reviews have mixed results with the traditional ballistix in the way it can sometimes bead up or leave "orange peel" finish. Do you believe the...

    Ballistix Protective Sealer/Coating

Ballistix is peeling up? I'm curious to hear some resolution to some of the issues with this product. I've been ready to order several times, but then I read about more issues with either application or something else.

    Concrete Slab Quote

I agree with others here, get additional quotes. I had about 2200sf poured about 6 months ago that was 6" thick with thickened edge and 1/2" rebar (costs a little more) plus concrete piers for the building. It ran about 20k, which is about $9/sf. They brought in a crane pump which cost a fortune...

    Ballistix Install

@KPack if you happen to get any gas, brake cleaner, brake fluid, etc on the floor, please let me know how it holds up! Looks nice.

Surprised by old snap on tool box quality

I've seen older Snap On boxes like you're talking about and thought the same thing. Quite honestly I think there's been a shift in user preference to heavier-built, larger boxes with different drawer layout as well. For example, some of the order tool boxes I see don't have a large top drawer on...
