Installing can lights in open eaves

So I have a ranch style house with two sliding doors opening onto patio. There is an outside light near each sliding door on a 3-way switch with switches by each door. I would like to put the shop exterior lights on the same switch so I can turn on/off all of the outside lights from either...

Metal as floor tile accents? Tiling experts wanted

FYI - talked to a tiling contractor. He recommended using Laticrete Hydro ban on the backs of the steel tiles and then using thinset. The Hydro ban will aid with rust prevention as well as thinset adherence to the metal tiles.

Metal as floor tile accents? Tiling experts wanted

I got a hair-brained idea last month and went to the scrap yard and got some 1/4" thick rusty diamond tread cut into 4" squares. I want to put these as accents in my shop bathroom floor between floor tiles. I will likely seal them with something - clear coat spray or some clear flat urethane...

Help with water / french footing drain issue

Why is that? The top old french drain is definitely adding water - the bottom one is not adding much, as the top one catches most of the water. The exit point on the drain is lower than the floor - as can be seen in this picture Day-lighting out to street...

Help with water / french footing drain issue

All of the drains go to a low point (in the lower left corner of my awesome paint drawing) and then drain into an open drainage ditch. I have not shot grade on the drain, but the newest drain (with the sheet drain) (when dug) had water flowing out of it before the perf pipe was installed (and...

Help with water / french footing drain issue

I am building my 36x44 shop in Boring, Oregon. I have been ready to pour concrete since September, but have an issue with water in my 3/4 minus gravel base. I have dug several trenches inside the shop (in the gravel base) and when it rains they fill with water. The shop is built into a...
