    Engine stand build

Like I mentioned above, I finished off the stand tonight. First I finished welding the base together. Then stripped the head down and painted everything. After it was dry I bolted all the parts back on, including some castors. While the paint dried I completed the face plate. It consists of two...

    Engine stand build

Thanks, a drip pan holder and also a separate parts tray up higher were both things I considered adding but didn't. I also want to add some feet that could be threaded to raise the stand off the castors. I could still do this stuff later, but in an effort to move on to more pressing projects, I...

    Engine stand build

Like Greyson said, the worm gear will hold it in place, so just rotate the handle and leave it at any angle. There are a couple other details I've contemplated including that I've seen on other engine stand builds. But as they would be more for aesthetic purposes, I think Im going to try and...

    Engine stand build

This past week I've had some spare time and with a couple engine and transmission projects coming up soon I decided it would be a good time to tackle building my own engine stand. I wanted to make one with a worm gear drive. The gears and bearings I've had sitting around ready for this for a...

    Long reach cutter

I would look at the Knipex. I have a pair, as well as a pair of the snap on ones you linked to. I definitely prefer the knipex. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X4MPAQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20

    Looking for a portable toolbox

I work part time as a Rally mechanic and while I don't need to personally carry any spare parts, I do need to have all my needed tools with me in one or two portable boxes. Sometimes I need to fly with these tool kits as well, so they need to be reasonably sized. I would recommend looking into...

    Anyone use Eastwoods MIG welders?

I have the 135 along with a Hobart 187. I like the 135, it welds just fine, the feed is pretty smooth. I've had it for almost three years with no issues. However, I dont think you will have much luck making good welds on 3/8 material.

Mastercool hyd flare tool - anybody buy the 37 deg adapters?

Same thing here when I ordered them recently.

    Snap-On Speed Wrenches

I have used those before and liked them a lot. But I can't justify the cost given I already have ratcheting box end wrenches, and for me, most of the time the box end works.

    Portable tool storage organization

I have this box for going mobile: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00794EJ1G/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Not as nice as a Pelican case, but the the trade of is definitely justified by the price difference. After using several different types of boxes this is by far my favorite. Plenty of room, the foam...

    Garage/Workshop Take 2

They have been very generous in giving up the space. The new lay out should help keep it clean and help us put it to good use, which is really all they ask for. And you are correct, we are in southern NH. Thank you! We both really enjoy working on these types of projects. Hopefully I can start...

    Garage/Workshop Take 2

At this point we are 95% done with the cleanup and organization. The last parts of our project are the fun things. Such as a welding table! Im very exited to have a dedicated place to weld. My table couldn't be that big for our relatively small space, the top is going to be 48"x32". I could...

    Garage/Workshop Take 2

Finally some more updates. We have been slowly chipping away at getting stuff organized. One of the projects that ended up being pretty time consuming was to organize spare car parts and supplies along with things like skis sports stuff etc, in a way that would leave us some extra space for...

Decent Made in USA Tool line?

Yes. Like pretty much all tool companies, not everything re-branded as Cornwell is USA made (But a lot of that stuff is still either US by another company, or from a quality european manufacturer) but all of their hardline tools definitely are.

    Another Question about Torque Wrenches

I have a PI 1/2 torque wrench that I am guessing would be the ridged model. It's head can move, but is limited to a few degrees in either direction, so its not a true flex head. I like the feature.
