Vintage is a relative term really, hell I have a customer that call his 1997 Softail an old bike, another ( like me ) that doesn't think of them as old till at least the mid 50's. But I'm assuming that this 70's stack will qualify. I only use it for specialty tools or tools not used everyday...
When I was around 15 or so I started buying my own tools, the auto parts store down the street sold Thorsen tools so that's what I bought. Acquired decent collection at the time but since 1970 this set is all I have left

Have a few Proto socket sets ( all 3/8" drive ) a couple 'clicker' adjustable wrenches and some wooden handle with the metal cap screwdrivers . Top shelf tools. Have around 45 socket sets, the majority being Snap On and Mac and have never even thought of replacing my Proto sets
Your box is from 1955, that's what the 55 after the made in USA means. It would have looked like this, this picture is missing the ratchet and looks like and extention or two but will give you good idea of the original contents
