Not sure about your statement that his cost may be about $1100 when the unit can be bought online with no contractor pricing for $700-$800, and yes it looks like the venting is about 2-3 hundred. It just seems like a markup of 60% is a bit much :headshake

Huh, that's an interesting design. This time of the year I'd be surprised if I'd opened the door 2 or 3 times in a week. Summer time, maybe once a day, but then from a cold intrusion aspect, no big deal that time of the year.

I am currently working on insulating my pole barn, I'll insulate the sliding door with 1.5" foam between the horizontal 2x4's. Any suggestions on a good way to seal the door in the closed position? I figure I can put some weatherstrip like material along the side uprights but getting a good seal...

I was going to put foam board between the horizontals, directly on the metal siding. Then there's about 5" of space for insulation between where the inner wall will attach and those horizontals. Or should I just slip the foam behind the 2x4's (there's enough room) and nail it to the horizontals?
