My cheap and effective alternative to pegboard

Recovering from a recent broken back so I've had time to organize my garage. After over a decade of faithful service my tool box needed to be replaced; I out grew it and it got taken out by some falling wheels. So I got a new one. I also organized all my tools and noticed I had a lot of extras...

Report on my self install mini-split 1.5 years later.

Mine has very similar watt numbers as yours. I also have a real time KW meter in the house. As well I have a wood stove in my house in the basement. I only use it on cold night when the heat of the upstairs (18K) heat pump can't easily make it downstairs. I think you will find the other...

Report on my self install mini-split 1.5 years later.

Some days it's all day and into the evening if I am working on stuff, sometimes it just an hour, and other times I will go days without going into it. I park my truck in there in the winter so it doesn't get covered in ice and snow. Also makes it easier to plow the drive with put my truck in the...

    LVL header question

The last garage I built in HRM the header only spanned the 16'. It was on the gable end. After numerous phone calls and messages an inspector finally showed up. He spent all of about 30 seconds on the site, verified that there were indeed 4 walls and a roof, gave me a piece of paper that said it...

    My Garage Build 24x24

I ended up doing 2x6 with 24OC so that I would have less thermal bridging. How thick is your slab? Ever think you will put in a hoist? It is unfortunate you are building now, lumber/OSB prices seem to be the highest in history.

It's really not hard and this is coming from a person who breaks aircraft for a living.

    My Garage Build 24x24

I did it myself. Too expensive to get it installed. It is a bit of a gamble as I couldn't pressure test it (didn't have the right adapter for my welding tank) but it was a risk I was willing to take. All my tools were bought of amazon. The instruction manual that comes with the pump is actually...

    My Garage Build 24x24

Interesting, that's the exact one I installed in mine a few weeks ago. So far it is way better than the old money sucking resistance heater I had in my previous garage. If you are doing the install yourself be prepared to have to cut the factory flares off, a couple of mine weren't exactly stellar.

Heat pump is def the way to go in your climate. Make sure you get a low temp one.

They used the same thing on mine. You know you've reached a new level of adult hood when you are paying good money for a bunch of rocks.

    My Garage Build 24x24

If it makes you feel any better 3 years ago it took HRM longer than that for my garage permit. How high are your walls?

    How did I do? (24X24)

Amazon Canada link Pioneer Air Conditioner Decorative PVC Line Cover Kit for Mini Split Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps - WYS-LCVR-KIT Takes a bit of squeezing to get it to fit and work but other than that it was a pretty decent kit. Screws all appear to be stainless which is a nice touch.

Thanks. Same colour as the house. Siding company is Mitten, the colour is Cypress.

    How did I do? (24X24)

Yes, it will be a surprise because I am not sure the decal shop can make if for a reasonable price. The one thing I am happy I was able to source was the red Class A gravel as well as the large red river stone. I really like it a lot more than the standard grey Class A. The stones go alone my...
