Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

Most dealerships and shops that charge low rates for oil changes make little to no money on them. To break even the tech has to do it in less than 30 minutes. They generally use this time to find other problems with your car they can profit from. I used to bring my own oil and filter to the...

    Garage opener not working...possible fuse?

Thanks for the input. It sounds like the logic board more than likely. Although I do hear some kind of relay energizing when I hit the switch. Maybe that's not on the logic board. I'm going to try the unplug method and see what happens.

    Garage opener not working...possible fuse?

So my 1/2HP Craftsman unit decided to stop working this morning. When I hit the button I can hear whatever relay inside the unit activate but nothing happens. Also, the two bulbs on the unit don't work either. Do these things have any fuses that are user replaceable? I think there was a quick...

Maybe the RB wasn't a good idea for me...

I like how I can throw some simple green down on the slow leaks coming from my xterra, take the hose to it, squeegee dry and it looks good as new. Much better than the stains it used to leave in the bare concrete.

    Mold?

So this is more of a general house question but since my house has a garage and this forum seems to always have good info I want to get your opinions. Just moved into the house a few months ago. Went up into the attic to check for leaks after a recent rain storm and noticed this...

A must discover Epoxy company: AEROCOAT

What is the best coating for a garage floor?

FYI I have a rust bullet coated floor and just finished changing nearly ALL the fluids on my xterra. That means there was a mix of engine oil, gear oil, ATF, etc... everywhere. After I was done I sprayed it down with some simple green, rinsed, then squeegeed and it looks just like it did new...

solvent base epoxy over water based and over spray

Yeah I'd definitely say wait until a while especially with a baby coming. The floor polisher rental with diamabrush will be around $140. For the edges I picked up an angle grinder from HF and their diamond turbo cup wheel (needed an angle grinder anyway). The angle grinder is pretty difficult...

Problems with my Epoxy Coat lifting.

Did you do a moisture test on the concrete before you put down the epoxy coat?

solvent base epoxy over water based and over spray

I had never used a floor polisher before and was able to do my 400 sq ft garage. Here's my tip thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289247

Cheapest easiest floor option and wall paint

I'd do something that can easily be removed since its a rental. I wouldn't even bother painting the walls but if you do make sure you get written approval from the owner.

Flooring: What you wish you had done

I had an older floor with some surface imperfections. If I had more time I probably would have use a resurfacer to make a smooth surface. More for looks than anything else.

    epoxy-coat

I used Rust Bullet for my 2 car garage: http://www.garageflooringllc.com/rust-bullet-concrete/ Very happy with the results and how easy it was to put down.

    My Rust Bullet Tips

I could still see the marks on my second coat as well. They should get much less noticeable on the next coats, just make sure you do the pull down in tip #2 and don't spread to thin.
