    Garage Flooring Questions

I work in a French fry plant. The one cleaner I like is smokehouse cleaner. Stuffs ********. Will etch concrete, turn it white, and kill the ocean if you dumped 5 gallons into the pacific. It’s ********, don’t get it on your skin, but put some in a pump sprayer and spray it liberally...

    Another insulation question

I only have 2 sides partially done, $150 in and will need another $200 to fully finish it out.

    Another insulation question

So being I’ve got a lot to do in the garage, I decided to screw it and buy some r-19 paper-faced insulations. Just grabbed 3 rolls to see how far it’s get me. Stapled it up. I have no venting, (soffit venting, but it’s blocked off) just planning to leave it exposed so hopefully I have no...

    Gravel driveway grid systems

I built roads for 6 years, from everything to asphalt to Concrete Treated Base and laying tons of fabric. The fabric works well, but the deeper the better. It just reduces soft spots and “pumping” when clay mixes with dirt, it never gets hard. That’s what fabric is for. If it were me, I’d...

Mineral wool got wet and smells like piss.

Sounds to me like a disgruntled employee pissed in it.

    Basement floor drain issue?

Thanks! I wound up chipping it for a sample, it’s freakin brass. Mind blown. And relieved. Removed it with a hammer and chisel. I figured I’d have to destroy everything to remove it. I wound up not replacing it, as it didn’t hold anything back anyway. In the process of working on this, I...

    Gas line questions

Cool cool so I’m good to just run the lines as necessary? Everything I got on natural gas is Boiler Water heater 30k btu indoor Williams space heater And I eventually plan to hook up a 40k (or so) garage heater.

    Sockets, I need sockets

Milwaukee makes a great set, 1/4 & 3/8ths drive all in one tray. Blue point makes a good 1/2in drive set. Avoid snap on if you don’t want to spend a fortune, crescent sockets are very good for the price. Avoid the weird “square bite” sockets as they tend to mar bolts a little. I really love...

    Gas line questions

Yep, that seems to be what all of them are doing. So I’m stuck doing it myself. I can handle the pipe work, just unsure if every appliance needs a regulator because as of now, not a single on has one.

    Basement floor drain issue?

Not specifically a garage but I figure someone here should know. I got a basement drain backing up and plugged, it’s got a ball type check valve. Is there a special tool for removing this? Nothing coming up online.

    Gas line questions

So we found our main gas line, and our main service cable in our house are zip tied together laying across the floor along the corner of the room. Needless to say I aim to correct both, but the electrical I haven’t been able to get a contractor to come back after seeing it. Anyway, when I...

Upgrading my in slab radiant heat source...

As your cheapest bet, keep your slab say 50 degrees, and see what it runs. I know my father in law runs electric heat in his triple stall (non slab) and he figured it runs him average 30-60 a month to keep the garage 70. I’m in North Dakota. Home of the damned polar vortex of cold.

Upgrading my in slab radiant heat source...

I will say I have a 30k radiant vented indoor space heater from the 30’s that actually worked really good in my 20x25 without an insulated ceiling. Problem is it got put in the garage because it wasn’t working right anymore, I got it to work for a little while before the heat exchanger finally...

    R-foil insulation

Me personally, for walls I think foam is a waste. It’s good, but I’d much rather use foil or paper back rock wool for walls. As for the bubble wrap, I personally am not a fan. Might make a good temporary for the ceiling but let’s see what someone else says, I have very little expirience with...

    Ventless propane heater?

I heat my two stall uninsulated ceiling exclusively with a 60k propane unvented heater. Not all the time, just when I’m using it. $100 tin can lookin thing from menards. It works good, but it will make your floors wet by the time it’s 60 degrees F. Unvented PUMPS a lot of water in the air...
