Occupancy sensor in path of furnace blower

This model has the ability to set it for PIR, Ultra, Both, or Either. And I can use separate settings for the initial trigger and the retrigger. Something is turning it on when set to Both. Nothing moves out there when the furnace fan is running. This describes my situation. The thermostat is...

Occupancy sensor in path of furnace blower

I can choose Ultrasonic or PIR, or both. I have experimented with all 3 with inconclusive results. I really thought both would be the ticket. How can moving warm air trigger both modes? Theres nothing out there that moves when the fan is running. I think my next experiments will be with...

Occupancy sensor in path of furnace blower

I've had a new furnace installed in the only position possible. The trouble is it is directed right at the Wattstopper ceiling mounted occupancy sensor, and the lights are triggered every time it comes on. The sensor uses both PIR and Ultrasonic. Is anyone familiar with these sensors and have...

    30K Garage heater prices

I have owned both Modine & Reznor also, in similar sizes. IMHO, the Reznor is a higher quality appliance and has needed considerably less maintenance. It's quieter also.

    Filling wide joint

Thanks for this. How difficult is it to get a good looking result with these products? Do I need to "tool" them to get them to lay right on a horizontal joint? I had researched Sika's self leveling product, thinking that would be easier to get a decent looking result. I suspect what you are...

    Filling wide joint

I have a 1"- 1 1/4" gap between my garage floor slab and the adjacent driveway slab. Theres been the asphalt filler material in there for several years, but it's deteriorating and has never kept water from seeping between the slabs. I'm ready to pull it out of there and replace it with whatever...

Easiest path to convert fluorescent to LED

Thanks. I need to find the right tubes. I found these instructions. Seems I need to know if my tombstones are shunted or not. How do I determine that? If they are not shunted, do I connect hot & neutral to both pins on the bulb (opposite ends) or just one pin per end?

Easiest path to convert fluorescent to LED

I have several older fixtures that I'm hoping to convert to do away with the ballasts. I've read a dozen threads, watched videos on the youtube. And I think I understand what to do. My understanding is all I need to do is connect the hot to all four pins on one end and the neutral to all four...

    Drywall Before Garage Door Install?

The right thing to do is mount the door track, opener, etc. directly to wood. Plywood, osb, framing, whatever. If there is drywall between the wood and the door hardware, the lags could work loose over time as the drywall loses integrity.

    Garage door shaking/bouncing when closing

Check the sheave wheels the cables go around. I had a shaking door once due to the bearings in the wheels disintegrating. The cable jerked as the resistance changed. Only would happen going up because there is more tension on the cable when going up.

How many btu heater needed for 20x30 insulated garage

I had a 45k Modine in a 24x30, with 8' ceilings, 2 windows, well insulated walls & ceiling. It was not big enough here in MN. The temp rise for that unit was 12-15 degrees. That means that no matter what the incoming air temp is, it can only raise it 12-15 degrees. And due to the relatively low...

Best way to paint file cabinets

I'm repurposing several used office file cabinets and desk pedestals. Looking for info on the best way to paint them all. I see some folks spraying them, some rolling. I'd prefer to not use spray paint, but could be persuaded if that's the way to go. Please share your experiences &...

    Basement Shelving Question

I think that attaching the four uprights at the corners to the joists above would be fine. Not trying to hang any weight from the joists, but keeping the whole unit from racking, twisting, or tipping over. If you can do that, I don't think it needs to be attached to the wall. Wouldn't hurt...
