Decided to overhaul my garage gym and I'm starting with a homemade power rack/squat rack.
Using 11 gauge 3X3 square tubing. Drilled 3/16 pilot holes then used a1" step drill bit from lenox. Started with a hand drill but the batteries weren't lasting long enough so I figured I'd use the makita...
I've just did a little searching and realized that a cobalt bit is the wrong bit to use for hot rolled steel.
I found this one on amazon, is it any good?

For now I only need it for a squat rack that I'm building but eventually I'm gonna be making other pieces of equipment for my garage gym. My budget is around 300-500
I'm gonna be buying my first welder ever but I'm not sure which one to get.
Need to weld 3/8" steel tubing.
Any recommendations?
What's the best bang for buck welder for welding 3/8"
Is this a good deal? Canada dollars

I'm trying to avoid the China made ones to be honest. If I have to, I don't mind spending a little extra for a good drill press but don't want to over spend.
Maybe I should asked what's the best bang for buck?
I'm going to be cutting lots 1" holes in 11 gauge steel
