    laminate flooring qestion

Glue down to the access panel. With some manufacturers, that is how you are to handle stair treads. With it being in a closet and not getting much foot traffic, I wouldn't think twice about it. Just leave room for expansion around the panel for the other flooring, this way it won't bind up on...

Looking for (2) Homeowners needed to try out new product line

I have a 430 sf garage (18'x20' main area with an 8'x9' work/ storage area). Photos are below for consideration. With the warmer weather upon us, I have been itching to address the floor in my garage.

Comments on this HF bender, please

I am thinking about getting the HF roller to make some large radius bends for a custom chopper exhaust. Does anyone know if it will accept larger than 2" tubing? I would like the pipes to be 2" and make matching heat shields at 2-1/4".

Looking good! What state are you in and how deep did they drill the post holes? Keep the updates coming.

    Question about Concrete?

It wouldn't hurt to seal it. The builder could have used a cure & sealer on it when they poured so it may already have a layer of sealer.

    Concrete Strength

You can get many different suggestions or options so here is mine: 4000psi should cover you for cars or pick up trucks. If you plan on working on any heavy equipment you could bump it up. Do you know what size bar you are going to use? 12" OC might be overkill. You should be just fine with a...

    Fiber reinforced concrete

It depends on what type of fiber was used. 10 years ago the fiber selection was nowhere near what it is today. There are 2 types of fiber macro & micro fiber. Each do different things. Through my recent experience fiber is used in conjunction with steel reinforcing (wire mesh). The fiber helps...

Whats a good brand of VCT and a supplier/local store like Lowes or other?

Mannington is up there with Armstrong. I actually got better pricing from the box store. I work for a large General Contractor and one of our larger flooring subcontractors/ suppliers could not get me better pricing than what HD offered. I agree moisture content is a major point to check...

    Nice Workbench Units

I got an email from an industrial supply company that included some nice looking work benches. I know most people build their own, but I thought these are nice looking units, a bit salty in price. I just thought I would share...

    Lift & expansion joint

This type of joint is called a "control joint" not an expansion joint. They are 2 totally different things. A control joint is a sawcut used to help control where cracking occurs. An expansion joint is a break between 2 pours with some type of expansion space typically 1-2" wide that would...

    Pouring Concrete Floor

A few basics for you: Thickness should be 4". Be sure to put a few inches of stone 3-4" down as a base Use wire mesh to reinforce the concrete Make sure your formwork is solid, level & square. Finishing the concrete is hard to explain in writing. Get a good straightedge to use as a screed...
