I would pay a garage installer to remove and then adjust the the settings when he reinstalls the garage door. What I meant in question 1 was to make it look like this....I agree not attaching hardware to sheetrock.

How far did you come down the ceiling and away from the wall? 18" or 24"??

It looks like you came 18" down from the ceiling and 18" off of the wall. Can you verify this? I am trying to figure out if I want to come out 24" off the wall, but I think that will be a little too much. Starting to put up my blocking for these to come in the spring. Thanks.
