When I was growing up and got in trouble, my punishment in the fall was to rake the lawn. We had about 3 acres of lawn in the woods. It sucked.
I Don’t Rake Anything Anymore!
I also have about 2 acres of lawn and a 1,000ft driveway I use this. $600 on marketplace about 10 years ago.
I'm in the process of helping replace an old wood fireplace heatilator with a new propane free standing unit for a family member. I would like to use DuraVent DirectVent Pro 4x6 Co-axial to Co-linear 3x4 Adapter to route the exhaust and combustion air through an old Heatilator wood fire place...
I tried Free All about 5 years ago and that’s all I buy now. Seems fantastic and works, don’t really notice the smell after having Covid 4x…. Seriously.
I had to change the rusty tracks on Sno-Cat when Free All was recommended to me by the local parts store guy because it was on sale.
There...
I did the bottom of my camp with it and it worked fantastic. The key for me was warming the tanks up with a heated blanket so they were warm. It made spraying more consistent. The kits were pretty expensive at the time I did it, but it was so fast and easy that it made working under a building...
I’m going back to “Just write the check”. I live in upstate NY. Costs are crazy. You have someone that’s willing to do the work at what seems like somewhat “reasonable area cost” do it.
Or you can wait for the best deal…. But he’s booked past fall and can’t start till spring. I hear it...
That actually sounds pretty reasonable. I’m in the Saratoga, NY area and spent about 70k for a 36x40x12 with the overhang and only 4 windows. I did all the site work and got a ludicrous deal on the concrete.
Even with all my time on prep, wiring, heat, installing garage doors (used ones)...
Seems like everyone has covered the all the wiring/outlet options throughly.
We just moved in our new house and the following were things we added to the build that have been great.
Every light switch is dimmable, very handy.
Hot/cold water spigots in garage.
And the big one.
We raised all our...
It’s regular oak hardwood flooring that came out of my house when they screwed up the install. I cut it out in sections and used it here. It really breaks up the all gray walls and allowed me to make nice wood window sills.
Now for these best part! They messed up all the flooring in my house (being built at the same time) which let me oversee that project while I worked on mine 100’ away. I basically made an accent wall behind where the benches go. Wish I saved more of it because it came out nice. The problem is...
I paid the Amish to side and put up the structure since I was a one man crew. I already had the site prepared and ready so two days later I started doing the interior, electric, insulation and everything else.
My only helper!!
It sounds ridiculous but it took me like 20 days to just get this...
This project took forever and with everything Covid related it was a “touch” over budget. It’s done now and wanted to share what I did. Wasn’t looking for an all white interior, I had that before I wanted a place to work and hangout. I only hit one rock, but it was stubborn!
How old are you and how much work are you willing to take on?
My first garage (at 24) I did everything, for the footers I rented a JD110 basically a 70% size backhoe. Ripped the top soil off and dug the footers to depth. It was about $350 for the machine and a trailer for the weekend. Honestly...
If this is true, I may not do anything unless I start poping the main breaker in the house. I can always pull new wire in the winter. This sounds like it will go on the back burner until the barn addition is complete.
Thanks
I did it was an undertaking to say the least. The building was 30'x40' and I had zero experience doing this. I figured by the time I got out of the ground I'd be pretty good at it and I was right.
This building was 5 courses with three below grade. The whole thing was level and square within...
