Tools for removing stuck (keyed) lug nuts?

Just for the record, I did not put the rims on the car!! They were on it before I got it :| LOL The lugs are not locking lugs like e.g. McGard or Gorilla; I guess they are what is called the "fluted" type; just a cylinder with six little semi-circular flutes around the circumference of the lug...

Tools for removing stuck (keyed) lug nuts?

Hey all, I have a 98 Ford ****** with aftermarket wheels on it (ugh)... it blew a tire this morning; they require a stupid keyed socket to get the lugs off... I hit the original socket with my 1/2" drive Proto breaker bar and the socket just split open when I put a little torque on it... had my...

Proto 6430 - speeder extension? specialty tool?

that's pretty cool... never seen something like that before. where's the guy on here who made the post a while back about wanting a tool that was kind of like a speeder broken into three different pieces? looks like someone at proto maybe thought that was a good idea too, LOL.

    Williams Super Combos

i like supercombos just fine; most of my SAE set is supercombos that i got on clearance at epstein's, with wright grips filling in the gaps.

    CATX termination tools

if you want to terminate plugs, i'd suggest the ideal crimpmaster with the requisite die. it's got a ratcheting action and can really put the pressure down for a good crimp... i know the CAT6 is a little harder to work with... for terminating jacks and patch panels, it's up to you; you can get a...

Building tool chest for good friends bday, need advice

the single most useful tool you can get a computer or IT guy is a klein 11-in-1 screwdriver! add in a nice pair of needlenose pliers and a pair of dikes (klein, channellock, ...) and he will be pretty well set to cover pretty much any job in a computer nowadays. he can add more specialized tools...

    J.C. Penny tools

i've got some jcpenney tools that have made their way to me thru my family... a 3/8" drive metric socket set in a black metal box, and some full-polish metric wrenches. they are nice tools. i'd pick up more if i ever saw them at a yard sale or flea market.

    Snap ring pliers wanted

try to find an old set of channellock 907s... they are my favorites. there's also a nice wilde set at epstein's for not too much money.

    I need new screwdrivers......

another vote for the proto classics; they're my go-to screwdrivers except when i'm doing electrical or computer stuff, then the kleins come out. get them while you can!

Suggest a mid level 1/4" socket set

harry epstein's has the S-K 91844 for around $120; that's what i'm using nowadays; i'm really happy with it.

    24 gauge wire stripper

you can get a klein curve stripper or an ideal stripper both in the higher gauges. i use the 11057s as well and they're great with 24 and 26 gauge wire.

    J. H. Williams C-Clamps

i haven't tried them but i'd sure like to. i had pretty much given up on being able to find a domestically made C-clamp. pricey though, especially if you figure retail is usually twice wholesale.

    Understand car battery charger

the voltage on a lead-acid car battery in good working order should be always around 12-13 VDC or so. it's not a super precise thing; every battery will be a little bit different.

you have lowe's up there, right? i'm pretty sure i saw bessey-branded (though MiC) clamps at lowe's last time i was there.

    Looking for Wireless Security Cameras

at the institution where i work, all the networked security cameras are made by a company called axis communications. this company has been around making networked cameras for probably at least 15 years now. it's always the first name that comes to mind for me when someone comes asking about...
