I have 8 2 bulb T5HO fixtures in my garage that is pretty similar to the OP size wise, also an 8 foot ceiling. The 2 that get blocked by the open garage door are on a separate circuit. It's certainly bright but no overly so IMO.

I did mine, seems way easier than a traditional style. Running the cabling took longer than mounting the actual unit. 2.5 on a 10 scale of difficulty.
