When you have installed racedeck, did you place the racedeck just up to the garage door, or did you have the garage door close on top of the racedeck?
I've seen it done both ways. The install video on the racedeck site shows the racedeck only going up to the garage door, not underneath it...
I would highly recommend bendpak. I've got the HD9. A lot of the cheaper lifts have lifting designs that are simply not good engineering practice. Are they safe? Well, you don't hear of many failing, so yes, they probably are. The design differences, though, make bendpack a better built...
I just did my floor. Used the Behr etc&clean. Didn't work very well. A 2:1 solution of muriatic acid worked WONDERS. That's the only way to etch a floor.
Leave it on until you see the foaming stop, then rinse it off. It doesn't take long, 10 to 15mins.
Water surface tension keeps most spills above the tiles. There is a bit of a gap, to allow for expansion and contraction of the tiles. Yes, you can pick a few tiles out in the middle of the floor. Just use a putty knife to get between the tiles and pry them up. You can remove 1/2 the tiles...
That is NOT normal. Either your button is bad, or it is plumbed wrong. Locks should release instantly ( with a good "clank") when you release the button. No air should leak when you push the button.
Should have pics in a week or two. In my crazy obsession to spend money, I'm putting down epoxy before I lay the racedeck. I want the concrete to be sealed in case anything gets under the racedeck. Will make it easier to clean once per year when I pull up the racedeck.
Just did the degrease...
I did exactly this in my garage and it met code (at least in my area). As said above, the breaker protects the wire from overload in case you try to run two lifts at the same time, so there are no electrical worries.
In floor heat is nicer, but even if you will keep it heated the whole time, the other thing to remember is you have a boiler and there is constant maintenance to it (checking pressures, bleeding the system, etc) not to mention more work to put it in and higher material costs.
My neighbor went...
Too late, already ordered the Tuffshield tiles. Was curious on people's experience with them. Most seem to go with regular diamond due to price. Would be nice to have some actual comments from people that have had them for a year or two before dishing out that kind of money!
I'm sure they...
I put in the ZAP jackshaft opener: http://www.zap-uk.com/site/ (dealer was in Montana) on my high lift door (12ft ceiling).
It's been great! Super quiet, soft start and stop, really easy to install.
Even the regular racedeck seems to work well in cold climates from the reading on the forums I have done. I'll be able to give you first hand experience this spring, as my racedeck goes in next week. If it survives a Canadian winter, it will survive anything.
