Hey everyone, I was wondering what could I use to permanently keep old wrenches from rusting. I'm in the process of derusting old wrenches in vinegar so I can clean them up and mount them in a shadow box of some sort on the wall as art. I've read the threads about using paste wax but I assume...

I was just afraid that the vinegar would corrode the wood and have the handle snap while I'm swinging away. Thanks for the help!

Can someone tell me the effects of vinegar on wood? I read up on a bunch of the rust removal threads and want to derust my hammers but I don't want to pull out the wooden handles. I want to just submerge the metal part of the hammer but that would mean the vinegar would still come in contact...

Thanks for the advice. That sounds right for the bottom brackets but I don't think it would work for the wall brackets because my drill would be too large to fit.

Grinder it is then. I didn't even realize that the brackets on the floor were for partitions haha Can't wait for my tools to come in so I can see them in the box. :rocker:

I'm glad to hear that! Yea I'm planning to use the box in the second picture but I want to take out those brackets first. I'm also thinking maybe trying to restore the first box since its really rusty and just to get some first hand experience with bodywork.

Well I just picked up 2 Craftsman 30 inch carpenters tool boxes from a yard sale for 20 bucks. If its a good deal or not I have no clue:headscrat Is there a way to remove the brackets that are on the interior walls and floor? I don't see any bolts or screws so I'm guessing that its spot welded in?
