my town controls what we can do for them. and if you wanna make any change at all you have to get city council approval. which costs a few hundred on top of the cost of changes.
mine is 16-18 wide. i haven't measured it. but i can swing my truck and trailer in without much of an issue so...

I’m in the dfw region of Texas and worked on my 3 wheeler out there today. Upper 20s felt nice compared to the recent single digit temps. Supposed to be in the 60s all weekend.

Has anyone used the husky brand shelves? Think pallet rack style, but not as big.
Home Depot has the 18” depth ones marked at just over 100 bucks and thinking of snagging a couple to keep boxed parts on and possibly engines and transmissions.
