Thanks for the info. I hardly need anything thin and have ground down a few cheapo wrenches on occasion to fit various places where needed but also have found that I would like to have a set of hand when I need them vs having to figure out the size and go grind a wrench to use it.
Wasn't searching for a jam nut wrench and was asking about a specific set of cheap, thin wrenches to see if anyone has used the duratech brand etc since I can't just walk into the store and take a look. I have been military aircraft mech for 22 years and we have never used jam nut wrenches and...
My most specific task usually involves hydraulic fittings on Aircraft. Alot of the tubes and hoses that run through bulkheads (bulkhead fittings usually come loose from vibration) usually have a jamnut to hold them firm to the bulkhead and you have to double wrench to tighten them so at times...
I prefer sealed most of the time because I have had to fight some of the quick release ratchets to release stuck sockets in tight spaces etc. Also like to not push a button for socket removal most of the time.
There are times where push button is nice like greasy wet hands or small sockets in...
So I am looking into some thin open end wrenches. I see amazon has the duratech super thin sets for cheap. Anyone use these and are they good or garbage. I am all for getting quality tools for less money but dont want junk and will pay the money where it's needed for good to great quality.
The...
New guy here. New to the forum anyway. I lurked for a while prior to signing up. I have been in military aviation maintenance for 22 years and will probably retire soon. With that I have as of late become more obsessed with my tools. My dad has run USA made Craftsman for 4 decades in industrial...
Gotcha. I much prefer the non-quick release ratchets myself. Mostly due to being an aircraft mechanic the quick release usually gets in the way in tight spots for me and at times you have to out the socket on the bolt or nut then slide the ratchet into place with not much clearance behind the head.
How do you like the Williams flex head? I order a good amount of Gearwrench 90t in flex head and std and i almost ordered some Williams ratchets. They look great, seems durable but some complain about the old 36tooth drives in them not being good for automotive.
After using a comfort grip I like them not being cold. I love in Alaska. Winter projects can be brutal but even in a garage the chrome handles draw cold. I like the warm feel and it's easier on my hands to use the comfort grips. The chrome though fits in tighter places at times with some room to...
Reading all this makes me feel better about what I own. I currently have four 3/8 inch ratchets, three 1/4 inch and two 1/2 inch and one 3/4 inch. I feel like I still need more. I eventually want to have comfort grip/std grip of each size and fixed and flex head in each size with maybe a few...
