I'm going to say it; snap-on is a rip off unless you plan to resell

You do realize that that's an 11 piece set going up to 8"? In the real world some things are expensive. I might get $2000 in parts somedays before breakfast. Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have that $2000 go toward a payment on a nicer service truck or $2000 in OTC or Proto. Yeah it's...

I'm going to say it; snap-on is a rip off unless you plan to resell

I'm not a Snap-On fan. People buying SO makes sense though. I buy Proto if I'm going high end and new, which is unfortunately very rare. Are there better cheaper options? Probably. I buy them when I know about them and they are just as available. Why Proto over Snap-On? I like Proto's logo...

How old were you when you first bought 'expensive' tools?

Either I am on something right now, or you get a gold star. Hell you get a gold star either way. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

How old were you when you first bought 'expensive' tools?

Bought my first proto torque wrench when I was fifteen with a student discount. Loved proto ever since. Bought first and only snap on stuff when I was seventeen and started working on semis and heavier equipment. I liked the same as cash payment plans. Not because I didn't have the money as I...

    Milwaukee's best/most innovative HAND tools

What is this some kind of marketing research study for Milwaukee? I have had a few pair of the locking pliers and a fancy screw didn't change the fact that the teeth were garbage and couldn't grip anything. I did see that they updated them though so they may be better now. The only innovative...

What tools have you had stolen?

Worst part of having my service truck broken into in the equipment yard is the boss's response being, "at least we know there's a thief around now" Yeah no ****. Still irritates me thinking about it since it was less than a month ago. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

Best Mig gas for homeowner welding.

Oh I go through Norco and they bottle their own gas out at a plant in town so pricing is decent. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

Best Mig gas for homeowner welding.

You'll do just fine running a q bottle of 100% co2. Argon mix is expensive and unnecessary around the house. For stainless you do need Pure argon. An argon mix will make prettier welds with less spatter if that's your main concern. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

What tools have you had stolen?

About 14k in tools over three instances. Latest one was only about 2k in power tools that some onion truck driver took out of my service pickup in the equipment yard because the company I work for is too cheap for any locks. In case anyone is wondering in anywhere that can be considered...

    Opinions on piling air tools

I've always oiled them. That's just what it says on the inlet. As far as crud buildup I've heard of guys filling a short length (2' or so) air hose with diesel and blowing it through to clean them out. Not something to do indoors. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

Wheel spinner for cleaning, sanding/polishing wheels off car?

If you could make a hub on a bearing to spin the wheel on, do it. Then you could make a mount for either a motor or a drill that moves closer or farther from the wheel. Slip like a gates BX120 belt over the wheel so it sits in the center of the wheel itself and slide your drive out to tighten it...

Proto 90-Tooth Precision Pear Head Ratchets

Only reason I can give is it feels better than snap on and the mechanism is built a lot more solidly. No slop or play. Built heavier. Knurled handle. Says proto instead of snap on. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

    Ace Hardware 5,000th Store

Wow. You're guy's experiences are vastly different than around here. All of the Ace stores around are terrible. Don't carry anything. Terrible staff. Last resort. Hate that place. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

Kobalt 3/8 inch 20 volt impact

I was very impressed with mine before it got stolen. Almost bought another one to replace it but used the funds toward replacing my 1/2" DeWalt instead. Great little impact. The extra batteries are cheap. Charger is the only expensive part. Worthwhile investment. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

    Is rebuilding a crime ?

What they said and the fact that 8 compressors over 50 years isn't a lot of business. I'm not saying they are right in trying to upsell some new compressor necessarily. To most dealers, if you aren't a commercial account you aren't prime business. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk
