Disappointed when I found out they are Taiwan. Still fantastic wrenches. Wish proto made a metric set. Some proto stuff as well.

Best Tools to Get You Out of Trouble

Torch+air hammer is a winning combination. More than anything though a few good wood blocks and a hi-lift jack.

What work pants do you guys wear?

Went through about 4 pair of Carhartt jeans that all tore in the first week. Wear Kirkland signature jeans now because they're like $25 and last like 6 months. Interested to see what better options are out there as well.

    Best cordless LED drop light?

Yeah any battery system you have will have a good one. Just got a USB charging CAT branded one from Lowe's for $20. Super bright but feels beyond flimsy. Haven't used it in the field yet but don't think I would recommend it.

New Lennox Tool Chest at Lowes

Let's just hope SB&D doesn't go the same route for Craftsman boxes as well.

    Resale value of SnapOn Tools

I am sorry for your loss. This list will give you a relative value of the tools. You won't be able to get list price on used tools. It will help you know what tools are worth more than others though...

    Auto technician thermal imager

You have me intrigued. Who'd you get your class through? I doubt I can find anything near by so anyone have any YouTube or other links. I definitely am no electrician or even an auto tech so it's more for shits n giggles.

Mystery what's it, import looking clamping device.

Would guess it's to make some kind of dimple or crimp.

    Homemade Tools

Portapress I made for King pins on tag axles because the "mechanic" doing the job was butchering the pins with a sledge. Will probably need to either mod this one to be extendable or build a bigger one for pressing the new ones in. Uses a 10t short portapower ram. In hindsight I should have made...

    Auto technician thermal imager

I have the flir one built into my cat phone. I would imagine it's similar in quality and capability to the one that clips on. I use it for diagnosing hub bearings, fuses and general purpose dicking around. Nice camera. Shoddy phone. Might give you a good idea of the image quality from the cheap...

    Buying tools based on warranty

Because when high end brand x ratchet is stellar and brand y is equally stellar and prices are similar I go with the one that is easier to warranty.

APEX (Armstrong) Tool Warranty - NOT HAPPY

I'll let someone else get this one. I can't without making an as of myself. Owned by snap on......

APEX (Armstrong) Tool Warranty - NOT HAPPY

Imho I agree that it depends on who backs the warranty. Two years ago and today I would buy a snap on/proto/Mac/sk tool before anything Apex and did and do. Sure no one is guaranteed to be around forever, but I'm still going to factor in warranty. They all have some variation of a lifetime...

More new name branding at HF

Yeah if they're selling pliers for channellock prices I'm still going to buy channellock even if the Doyle is same quality. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk

They're like $40 a jacket, got mine on sale for $30 at the local outfitters. This is the first link Google had for one in the style I wear for work...

    Carhartt Jackets

Imho, Carhartt makes some nice but way overpriced stuff. I bought a Carhartt that started to fall apart after only one year. I bought my current Berne jacket for a third the price of a Carhartt and absolutely love it. This is it's third winter and it's still going strong. Also wear some of their...

Proto new pear head 90 tooth

Yeah they're definitely keeping the price higher than it needs to be, but I still thinks it's worth every penny I paid even if I can get a cheaper Mac version. I prefer it over the Mac version so I'm willing to pay more than the Mac version. I prefer it over a snap on and so I'm willing to pay...

World's BEST pencil sharpener... For 3.49

Yesssss. Used to do the reverse and chuck pencil into drill. Almost curious enough to buy one and see how they work on silver pencils for metal. Sent from my S60 using Tapatalk
