Nice set of Vintage Snap On Tool Boxes on Philly CL

These aren't mine, but I thought someone might be able to use them. They look in great shape and not a bad price for a vintage 3-piece. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/tls/4047810245.html

Rebuilding SO TML70A ratchet and lost the ball bearing

I found a rusty snap on 1/4" ratchet at a garage sale this weekend. I got rid of the rust and got it apart. I tried putting it back together this morning and launched the ball bearing (pawl ball) into space. Is there a good way to put these back together without losing your balls in the process?

    Anyone recognize this vise?

Re: Anyone recognize this vise? UPDATE Just heard back from the seller. What do you guys think about this: The front (moving) jaw is 3-3/4” wide, the rear (non-moving) jaw is 5-1/4" wide. The lettering on the side reads “FULTON, LOWVILLE, NY and (image of five-pointed star) 2-1/2” It's kind of...

Can Crusher for Steel Cans (Bean Cans Etc)?

Lots of interesting ideas on here. I tried setting them on a piece off scrap 1x6 on the kitchen floor and stomping on them with the heel of my cowboy boot. Sometimes the simple solution turns out to be the best. However, a home built air powered can smasher does sound entertaining. Thanks for...

Can Crusher for Steel Cans (Bean Cans Etc)?

Anybody know of a good quality can crusher that can handle steel cans like soup cans or vegetable cans? I've googled and checked amazon but they all seem to be designed for beer cans. Thanks in advance.

    Screwdrivers...

I'm sure there will be other threads on this, but since you asked about the Wera Kraftform Kompakt driver and bits, I'll chime in. I bought the small set (six bits: phillips, pozidrive and slotted) for work because they looked like a good portable alternative to a full set of screwdrivers. I...

what's a good price for a rusty old vise...

...assuming there are no cracks or other big problems. I'm looking for a project to restore. It's a Simplex 4" and the guy wants $80. That seems high to me.

    Good Lumber Source in DFW

I always liked McCoy's for lumber in TX. They're Texas family-owned. They do a lot for the community especially in San Marcos where the founder lived until his death last year: http://impactnews.com/articles/founder-of-mccoy's-building-supply-dies/ I think there's some in the DFW area. Check...

Blu Tooth Speakers, Help Me Build Some

Not DIY, you'll have to do a little research, but I think this might work for you. You can plug this in the garage and run your iPhone or iPad as a remote or source of music. You'll need speakers or a stereo to plug the airport express into. The thing I'm not sure about is using your existing...

    More Cabinets!!

So, for the lower cabinets, I can get 8 narrow drawers, 4 wide drawers, 6 narrow drawers + one small cabinet door, or 2 door cabinet with one shelf. You can see one of each in the picture (the furthest one is 4 wide drawers). Which do you think would be the most useful (valuable)? I think I'd...

    More Cabinets!!

Ok, so most of you saw (drooled over) exiged's "Cabinets!!" thread from a couple weeks ago about the great deal he got on the lab cabinets. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182671&highlight=Cabinets%21%21 Well, I've come into opportunity to get several of these cabinets out...

    Question for professional welders

Here's a couple links to programs that she's looking at: http://www.ittinstitute.org/ http://www.dccc.edu/courses/wld The ITTI says they provide free job placement and the course is only 3 months long. I'm not sure how long the DCCC courses would take.

    Question for professional welders

Hi all, My wife is considering taking welding certification course at a local technical school. She's done some torch-and-rod welding in the past (art classes) and enjoyed it. She's detail oriented, crafty and tough, so I'm sure she'd be able to handle the job. What are the work prospects are...

    tool box INSIDE the house?!?!

Do it. I've got one in the living room beside the front door: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140205 And just added on a side box. The rest of the garage is in the hall closet with the HVAC. I really need to move out of the city.
