    3/4" electric impact

Any favourites or avoid at all costs? Looking at Milwaukee, Dewalt or Makita so far but open. 95% farm equipment use, looking for portability over air.

What would you do with this?

Picked this up cheap tonight. About 24x32, top swivels 360 degrees although it's stiff. Good and sturdy, looks like WWII-50s vintage and the shelves/drawers have been cobbled on later. My first and probably best thought is to put a rubber mat on the top, build a lip on 3 sides, build some...

    Welding flash in public places?

On the odd occasion when I can't get something in the shop my outdoor welding area is about 40' off a well-travelled road. I generally try to keep my back between the road and the flash, and for the most part I think it's far enough not to be a big risk, but what do you all do about the flash...

    Cable/wire/hose storage ideas?

Got all kinds of rolls around, barb wire, brace wire, black wire, electric fence wire, clothesline, 3-4 different sizes of hose for liquid fertilizer, 2-3 different sizes of wire rope, nylon rope, electrical wire - most not on spools, just rolled and hanging on a nail. Anybody got any neat cheap...

    Substituting automotive fuse holders

My sprayer control on the tractor has been having problems almost since I bought it with the glass fuse being loose in the fuse holder and overheating. Is there any reason I can't pull the holder out and wire in a mini fuse holder with a cover instead? It seems like it would be a lot more secure...

22/30 auto shops fail mystery "shopper" test

http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20110408/w5-the-mechanic-110409/ Oops! Saddest part... out of 22 shops that did unnecessary repairs, only 1 offered to refund the customer's money when contacted.

    Tools/parts "disguised" as junk?

What are the most useful things in your shop that you just know your wife would toss after you die? For me, it's 1. The handful of 60cc syringes from the barn with various short lengths of tubing that I use alternately for lubing things that are hard to get at or sucking up small spills from...

    Roller chain storage

Anybody got any nice, cheap (read "free") ideas for storing spare roller chain around the shop? I keep about 8-10 sizes on hand, up to 80H, both full rolls in boxes and also lots of short leftovers. Right now I have a piece of scrap flat bar nailed on some studs and just hang them over it, leave...
