    Duct cleaning

a lot of this has to do with the design of the system, my old house had the filter at the air handler, but had 40 feet of supply duct from the main living space to the unit, lots of dust bunnies and such were in this part of the system, I would reach my shop vac in a good 8 feet but that was as...

Where to find automotive (or specifically ATV) electrical connectors?

There are many kinds of crimpers that should work for that application. I took a picture of 3 of mine that could work. The top ones here are normally under $30 and are generic and wll require some significant force to get a decent crimp on larger wires, but work ok. The middle ones are the...

Where to find automotive (or specifically ATV) electrical connectors?

That looks to be a Aptiv (used to be Delphi) Metripack 150 unsealed connector. Mouser is a great source for most of them but you need the part numbers. That one might be this. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Aptiv-formerly-Delphi/12064769?qs=oGfY1tKavxw1ZNCvk2lPzw%3D%3D this has a...

Wall mounted Garage Vacuums what do you have

not sure if you want more of a permanent wall mount or one that mounts on the wall. I have had this for 15 years and have been very happy with it. https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/5-gal-stor-n-go-wet-dry-vac

    Non-rust OEM fasteners

cost, remember vehicles are designed for manufacturing, not servicing. Stainless steel is significantly more expensive and the rust proof formulas might be too brittle for a component like that without major redesigning. I feel bad for those who live in salt states, I was doing suspension work...

Free Finds That You Can Use

Garage door opener from one of the neighbors, mine had just burned out the logic board. I salvaged the board from that one and used the 2 to make 1 working one. My work bench was a trash find a few houses down. I have about a half dozen metal wire shelves, all came from the neighborhood. None...

Size of Attached Garage and Resale Value

your local area really impacts what a shop will bring for value. around here, there was a very nice 4K sqft house for sale a few year back, with a 5k sqft "shop" HVAC, block construction, fully finished inside with old gas station themed. The houses down the street sold for 900-1mil, that house...

    A shortage of springs now

had a spring die on Halloween night when I closed the garage door. In th past $60 online and a pair of new springs and winding rod delivered to my door (2014) this time when I searched for them, they were almost $200 for the pair, so I had a company come replace them. It was very expensive, but...

Car garage rip off is this normal?

what percent is that £70 savings, 10% or 50%? remember, the buying the parts from the shop often includes a parts labor warranty, so if the part fails, you won't be paying labor on the repair. (however for your normal maintenance job, that is not really as much of a concern as other work)

Recommendation Needed - Pull out chest of drawers for nuts/bolts/misc

if you have plastic tubs that work for you, I would build a rack to hold them, I have 6 drawers similar to the ones you posted, and they are not good for weight in them, but to be fair, every one I have I salvaged from neighbors trash when they dumped them so they are various brands but are all...

Anyone make a "gang box" extension cord end? (I did!)

I built 2 this last weekend, I previously salvaged 2 25 foot 12/3 soow cord power drops that already had a single gang weatherproof box, strain relief and outlet with stainless faceplate at the end. Grabbed 2 leviton plugs from home depot and now have 2 good power boxes for cheap.

Harbor Freight: Made in the UK !

I've had one since 2008, been very happy with it. I also have a cheap air compressor from them as well, it works for my needs, but it is just a fancy inflator, too small for airtools

Looking for garage door roller sleeves

I had one of my garage doors serviced yesterday due to a broken torsion spring, after a full expensive overhaul, it is working better than it ever has before. Part of what they changed was going to nylon rollers, but the installer added these nylon sleeve into the rollers shaft mount. I have...

Champion Dual Fuel Generators What do you guys think of them?

propane should be very stable for long term storage. The tank itself is usually the limiting factor. https://www.ferrellgas.com/tank-talk/blog-articles/propane-s-shelf-life-makes-it-the-envy-of-gasoline-and-diesel/

Using hindsight... what/how would you do things differently from the beginning?

I would do the floors now, if you ever plan on doing that. My neighbor just did his floor before he moved in, and it looks great. If I was going to move in again, I would buy good shelving and storage containers, vs just using the stuff I have salvaged. Think about how you want to use wall...
