    Battery Backup Sump Pumps

I installed a liberty water powered sump backup in August. Would never mess with batteries, they are a pita. The Liberty work great if you are not on a well. You need public water supply that doesn’t require power. They are relatively inexpensive as well.

    Concrete anchors

In South Dakota, we don’t have hurricanes but we have some pretty gusty winds. I have a call into my local code guy, but with the 5/8 Rod is that just any 5/8 threaded rod or something special? could I use 1/2 inch? All my L bolts are 1/2-inch.

    Concrete anchors

Building a garage. Slab poured, walls framed. For code I need a few more concrete anchors. My spacing was messed up. What are the cheapest best option for adding 5 more anchors in various locations on my 12" wall? Thanks

    Garage trusses

Thanks Guys, the delivery came today and I looked at those and thought WTF? My framers come Friday, I just needed to get all the right stuff here so they can pound nails.

    Garage trusses

Ahhh, so I frame out from the second truss over the end truss to get my 12" overhang on gable end. And build out the 2' overhang on bottom of end truss...

    Garage trusses

I might have messed up here when ordering my trusses. I used a "Design It" center from lumber yard. I am building a basic 24x30 garage, have pad poured with 1 foot wall around it. I was planning 9 foot walls all around to give me a 10 foot ceiling. I was tinkering with the "Design it" to...

Insulation on outside of thickened slab

Thanks, I'll skip it. I already have a 26x44 garage attached to my house that I heat too. So this one may be heated but won't be my shop. Storage only.

Insulation on outside of thickened slab

Have a thickened slab pad poured. Only has gravel under it. Has 12 inch think perimeter and a 12" stub wall on top of the pad. The pad has "waterstop" between it and the stub wall. Is it worth insulating around the outside? I was thinking Dow Corning 2" that is r10. I would keep it below...

    New garage...more basic questions

Concrete gets poured Tuesday morning, concrete contractor will finish forms tomorrow and it gets inspected then too. 12 inch thickened slab on edges, 5" in center. Couple basic questions, I asked him and he says he'll do it anyway I specify, which doesn't help me. He basically doesn't want...

    Garage with Attic trusses

Thanks for the replies. A few things I didn't say. I live in an HOA that requires the roof and siding of garage must match house, so technically I need a 6/12. I was going to build it 5/12 anyway, but may go with 6/12 now. I was also going with 2x6 9 foot walls. Initially not insulated...

    Garage with Attic trusses

Hi Bulding a new 24x30 garage. It will be mostly for storage of boat, utility trailer, a classic car. I am debating with myself if the use of Attic trusses would be worth the added $1100. I do have treestands and some other things that could go up there. But in general I could probably...

Sand or Texture in garage flooring

Building a second garage out back that will be mostly for storage, 24x30. I like the look of epoxy or other coated floors but every one I have seen is slippery when wet. Do any have traction added? There are lots of fine sands (Sharkskin) that can be added to regular paints but will this work...
