Trailer pad for enclosed trailer next to garage - 8/7/2025 UPDATE

I'd start with a clean slate. Remove the existing pad and wall, then grade and compact an area for the new construction. I would consider having an engineer make a site plan considering lot lines and setbacks. Return with a new poured concrete retaining wall, then pour the pad to the wall...

Post Your Smallest 1/4" Drive Ratchets

Dang you GJ! I didn't need another 1/4" ratchet, but the Titan duo caught my eye. They'll do well in those tight-fit-nothing-else works jobs. All my wife said was, "Really, more ratchets?"

    Worn Snap On impact sockets

The tool truck is usually much easier. I just hand them the defective tool, and he hands me a new one right there if it's in stock. Impact sockets should be on hand. Are there any auto shops or dealers at all in your area? If so, they are probably on the tool truck route. Stop by and see what...

Step ladders what height for 14ft ceiling ?

I'll be honest with you: One of the most dangerous tools in my shop is a sturdy 2' Werner step ladder. I'm always standing on the top platform to reach things that are just out of reach. A 2' fall onto concrete would lay me up for weeks. Like others, I think a 10' step ladder is what the OP needs.

Step ladders what height for 14ft ceiling ?

Both. Please notice I prefaced the remark with "Generally". Both balance and mobility are reduced as we age. Injuries from falls can cause bone fractures and head injuries. These types of injuries are harder to recover from as we age. This I know from personal experience. As for scientifically...

Step ladders what height for 14ft ceiling ?

As a side note; Men over 70 generally don't belong on a step ladder.

    Narrow Crown Staples for Shingles

Well, he could use a 12 oz ball peen if that's what he has. However, the shingle hammer shown has the depth gauge to set straight lines. Nail the right side lined up, gauge the left side, then nail the middle. But that's only important with 3-tabs I guess.

    Narrow Crown Staples for Shingles

$28 for a proper roofing hammer with a depth guide. And you have a new tool when you're done. They're great for small repairs without having to drag an air hose. I use 1 1/2" galvanized roofing nails because they're easier to finger-hold. Don't overthink it...

Current recommend for a regular screwdriver set?

I have Snap-On soft grips and Vessels. But when the going gets tough I always drift back to my green hard-handle SK's that I've had for decades. They have a great grip in dirty or oily environments. You can still find them at garage sales and pawn shops. For new I'd go Vessel, but I'm hearing...

Roof sprinklers and other house fire hardening methods

In my experience, the water source is for the firefighters, not self-deployal. In the heat of the fight, the firefighters will follow the resources. If they have four structures threatened but only one has a viable water source, that is where they'll deploy. Outside of the urban setting, there...

Roof sprinklers and other house fire hardening methods

One thing not mentioned enough is having a water supply. One of the easiest ways to do this is an above-ground pool, if you have the room. Many mountain residents have them in the Colorado fire danger zones. Use as a swimming pool is secondary, and many never use them for that. Pools come with a...
