Preval vs. Air Brush for spraying caliper epoxy paint???

I'm painting my calipers with G2 two part epoxy paint and they suggest using a Preval spray unit for the metalic colors instead of brushing. I've only used the PreVal unit once and that was like 20 years ago so I really don't have any experience with them. I have an air brush and compressor that...

Saw this on sale at Sears this morning....

They had a set of three pry bars for $19 that were normally $39. The longest was around 24" and the short one was around 12" and they had a squarish shaped red handle. Are they any good and worth the $19 to a guy that has no pry bars?

Going to pick this up Saturday!

I know it's not an automotive tool, but it's just too cool to pass up for $100. I will probably restore it this winter and sell it, but I'm afraid that I may get attached to it first.

What have you been looking for that you can't find????

For me it's a nice looking and inexpensive wall mounted tire rack that will hold 4 tires/wheels during the winter/summer swap. I know that I can build one out of 2x4's, and did, but I really would like something the looked a little more "professional". Trying to find this has made me think that...

Why does everyone stop the coating inside the door???

Curious why every picture that I've seen has the coating stopping short of the driveway inside the door. Why? I have had Benjamin Moore Epoxy down for almost 10 years and it goes all the way outside to the driveway. No yellowing or fading what so ever. Am I missing something or are all of the...

Let's see some Garage "art"....need ideas please.

I've been searching a number of hot rod forums and have seen all sorts of '60s and '70s Rat Fink style stuff but it's not my cup of tea. I want to do a mural on one wall about 20' long and looking for ideas. I'm sure that some of you out there have a collection of "stuff" that you like to show...

Now this is a nice tool box!!!!!!

Went to a local car detailing clinic today that was held at a Mercedes collision repair shop and saw this Snap On set up. According to the shop mgr. this is all owned by their lead mechanic, who is an equipment freak. They took inventory recently for insurance purposes and he said that the...

Metal cut off tool....air or electric?

I'm looking to get a metal cut off tool and wondering which is better and why, air or electric? I see that the air tools typically run at about 18,000 rpm and the electric run around 11,000 rpm. Air are smaller, usualy 3" discs where the electrics are 4" or 4 1/2". Is one better for sheet metal...

    Is this welder any good???

I've got the opportunity to pick up a Thermal Arc Dragster 85 inverter welder for $330. It comes with the TIG access. pkg but no tank. Used maybe three times by original owner. It would be for basic shop stuff and repair and most likely nothing heavier than 1/8" thick angle iron or 1" to 2"...

Welders.....what would be the minimum that I should buy??

Small budget, but also pretty small needs. Not planning on using this everyday or for reall heavy duty stuff, just average things like square tubing and some angle iron, etc. There are a couple of used units available localy for around $150 but not sure what I'm looking at. One is a Campbell...

Need some help with expansion cracks!!!

I added on to our existing 2+ car garage and the contractor did not put an expansion joint where the new and old floors meet. Yea, it's got a crack that runs the entire length of the floor where they meet and I am planning on epoxying the whole thing soon. Question is....can I use the Rustoleum...

Using a floor leveler over epoxy?????

I have an oversized two car that has been epoxied about three years ago plus a new addition that makes the whole space 24' x 38' and I'm getting ready to coat the whole floor. I have one area in the old section that collects water right by the garage door and wonder if I can use a floor leveler...

    Gas vs. electric welding??????

OK, so here's the scenario.........wife has oxygen and acetelene(sp?) tanks, just not used together. She uses her oxy tank with natural gas and the acet. by itself. I can get a oxy/acet set up for under $200 or get a small MIG for around $500. Big difference in cost and for what I'm going to...

Anyone own an Atlas 10" lathe????

I have the chance to get a 1940's Atlas 10" lathe and 17" drill press for under $300 for both and am curious if they are worth it. I know that the Atlas was basically the same lathe as the Crafstman way back when and it's considered to be small for any production work. This one does have the...

Anyone have or have used a Blacksmith's post drill????

I have the oppotunity to pick up an old post drill for $65 and thought it would not only look cool in the garage but should actually work well for drilling steel because of the slow speed. Anyone have any experience with one???
