So the side entry door opens in and he drove rebar into the slab inside the garage? What a dickbag.

Replacing 8ft fluorescent tubes with LED ballast bypass tubes in my shop.

I made the switch 4 years ago and have had zero issues. Easily puts out double the light of the T8s that were in there.

I'm hoping with enough water it'll grow.

It rains here all the time. Mine has not gotten any bigger.

Caulking gap between add-on Patio and Brick House

Rip it all out, fill it with the appropriate size backer rod, finish with Sika Flex. I like to finish my joints with sand on top. Gives it a finish that looks closer to the concrete and makes the joints a bit less noticeable. Don't try to mess about and preserve some portion of it. If part...

    Asphalt floor issue

That's got to be awful. Asphalt has that weird smell when it gets hot, is that an issue? I would tear that BS out.

Why do modern houses have Garage in front?

Hate, hate, HATE those floor plans with the garage jutting out. The second order effect is that it inevitably dooms the garage to being too shallow to be useful since there is living space behind it that gets prioritized. Most of these things are 20'-21' deep. You can't even park a full size...

    Lizards Invading SC Garage

Just physically seal up the garage (expanding foam in every crevice and renew the garage door seals all around (esp. the bottom seal), all door seals for man doors, etc. Once the bug population is cut to next to nothing, the lizards will stop 'shopping' in your area. Appreciate them. They are...

    Rockwool Installation in Ceiling

That is 100% the correct way to do that in this case. Go worry about something else now.

    Unshopping a Shop With Landscaping

Be careful how close and exactly what you plant next to your shop. A lot of plants will encourage a dramatic increase in insect activity. Increased insect activity leads to increased predator activity which leads to increased activity in whatever eats the insectivores. You get the idea.... I...

Double car 4 post lift for a townhouse - Options?

Might be an idea but I'm thinking given that he is asking about a townhouse that there is living space above it. OP, what is above the garage ceiling?

Double car 4 post lift for a townhouse - Options?

Erroneous. C8s are 48.6" tall. Assuming a 49" Miata and 8" of deck height, that is 8.8'. You could back the car on top onto the lift and the door clearance would not be a factor then. We're talking inches here but this is exactly that, a game of inches.

Pole Barn cost is getting crazy....

Good advice^^. Not sure about your age, OP but there comes a point where you just want the thing built so you can get maximum time to enjoy it. You're not going to lament the failure to get 10 quotes to save $10,000 five years from now. At 48 and getting ready to retire from the military, I'm...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Overloaded 2 car gets organized

Keep at it. Don't let the slatwall mistake get you down. Thank how much better you'll be at it the second time around! With these tiny "2-car" garages, you have to be absolutely militant about not allowing anything on the floor. If is absolutely has to be on the floor, put it on casters.

Pole Barn cost is getting crazy....

That's $65/sq.ft. for the building with a big porch thrown in. Lots of concrete involved as well. Sadly, this is in the ballpark for these times. This was a $60,000 project before COVID.

Double car 4 post lift for a townhouse - Options?

Challengers are bit fat pigs. You're screwed on height. Dodge Challenger: 58" Lift runways: 8" Miata: 49" you didn't state what generation but they are all around this Door clearance: 6" minimum and that is your install guy being real slick TOTAL: 10.08" If you are correct about the ceilings...

Double car 4 post lift for a townhouse - Options?

9' ceiling is going to kill you. I have a parking lift in my garage and have 10'6" and I still have to be very careful about what combo of cars gets stacked. My Defender inside renders me unable to put anything on top of it and even normal cars require something low slung to be partnered...

    Garage Ventilation.

You guys undersizing your HVAC are just being hard on the equipment. It will fail prematurely. I live by this adage when it comes to purchasing anything that is even moderately a pain in the **** if it fails: buy once, cry once.

    Garage Ventilation.

If you're hot in a building that is mostly shaded and has 2" of foam, there is nothing you are going to be able to do short of proper HVAC that will make you comfortable. That building is not too large, a ductless minisplit with 2 cassettes should be able to take care of that no problem. You...
