Automotive wiring plugs, is there an easy way?

OP here... I was able to remove and take both headlights apart to test bulbs, ballasts and ignitors if needed to be sure knew what was bad. So, first I put the "good" bulb from drivers side in the pass side that was out. Pass side then worked. So I figure it is the bulb. The "bad" bulb...

Automotive wiring plugs, is there an easy way?

richfinn, thank you for this response, as another member said something similar. I have not tried this. Just never thought of doing it that way. Doesn't seem intuitive (at least it never did for me before), but after thinking about how they work, it makes sense. I will try that for sure next...

Automotive wiring plugs, is there an easy way?

Thanks guys... I think the bottom line is those connectors are just a biatch... Sorry if I didn't explain it well, they are those plastic connectors of various dimensions that use a small plastic slider catch that has to be pressed in to release it... and the part you need to press is so small...

Automotive wiring plugs, is there an easy way?

Ok, I've done plenty of mechanic work over the years as a reasonably active backyard mechanic. I just had a headlight go out. These are HID's and the bulbs are pricey. So I take out both headlights (impossible to get the back of the bulb w/out removing the headlights) swap bulbs, end up...

Nissan special tool #374 = Rob's special tool #"grip tight"

Ok, I'm a "recreational mechanic" that has a sizable tool collection. Comming back from the beach a couple weeks ago the steering wheel mounted cruise control button on wife's 2002 Nissan Maxima SE broke  It's a module that has several buttons on it. So I order a new one on-line...

    "Tite-Reach" ratchet etension

Thanks for the reply. I agree they look kind of bulky. But the advantage is supposed to be there is no need to move it for the ratcheting, as that motion is done at the other end swinging a conventional ratchet wrench, where in theory you have the room. So, I think, even though it's a bit...

    "Tite-Reach" ratchet etension

I searched the threads - but just some general comments when this first came out and also similar general comments about discontinued blue point chain extensions... My Question: Does anyone who actually owns a "Tite-Reach" ratchet extension like it? What is your review on quality and...

Snap-On, Mac, Craftsman Pliers, Compression Testers, etc

Hi, regarding the "Snap-On Compression Tester w/ accessories (as shown) - $45", a few questions: - Why are there two guages? - Do these appear to have had heavy use? - Hoses look free from knicks & cuts? - Do you think all the original connections are included? - Are the guage faces "clear"...
