    universal sockets and torque

There are some fasteners that are very critical and must be stretched precisely so that the tension in the threads is near perfect. Most fasteners are not that critical and only require torque in a certain range and for the most critical , strain and angle guages are often used instead for...

    universal sockets and torque

If you are using a wobble extension, the maximum offset is 16 degrees which means if you do not adjust your torque wrench the fastener will be under torqued by as much as 4%.

    universal sockets and torque

I would not use the U joint univerals with a torque wrench because they bind. If you must use a universal with a torque wrench use the pinless impact swival from Matco or Craftsman. The pinless design is much better.

    universal sockets and torque

You can use univeral sockets with torque wrenches if you know the offset angle. You must set your torque wrench to a greater torque if the plane of rotation of the torque wrench head is not parrallel to the bolt head plane of rotation. If you have any offset angle the torque applied to the...

What are weights made from? cast iron?

The risk welding different metals together is galvanic corrosion. One metal will be much more active corrode preferentially while the other is protected. The active metal will corroded faster when welded to a dissimilar metal than it would if not in contact with more noble metals.

    9mm? What do do with a 9mm?

Not only did metric last, but it is becoming more popular and I believe SAE fasteners are going to be very rare in the not too distant future. I use mostly metric tools and only occasionaly SAE sizes. I rarely use the 9mm and 11mm sizes. The sizes I use most are 8mm, 10mm,12mm, 14mm...

Fluke 289 True-rms Industrial Logging, W/ Trend Capture

Well after researching the FLUKE 280 series mulitmeter, it seems they lack some important features. The FLUKE 88-V seems like a better purchase because it measures pulse width that other multimeters lack. This is a nice feature to have. It is expensive though around $400.00 My job is...
