    Extension Cord for Welder

I bought a 25' cord for my 211 from Princess Auto. They also have a 50' version available. I got mine when it was on sale for much less than the regular price. They had the 50' on sale as well at that time, but 25' was all I needed.

    RAD Garage

Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN I have the solid Racedeck tiles in my addition and did a cleanup a week ago on it. I just dumped a bucket of water on it, scrubbed the muck loose, then picked it all up with the wet vac. Once more to get the residue and it was pretty clean - at least for...

    First Milling project

I got the router bit idea from a machining forum and since I had the router bit on hand, I figured it was worth a try. It worked very well and was better than spending for the rounding mills. If I needed to do the same for steel, the mills would likely be the better choice.

    First Milling project

I just used a router bit chucked in a collet and lined it up by eye to the edges. The carbide bit cut very nicely in the aluminum in a single pass on each edge.

    First Milling project

Yes, first ever. I'm no stranger to machining though having done lathe work and I did spend five years working in an engine rebuilding shop back in my mechanic days. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2

    First Milling project

That's what I had in mind to start with, then to follow up with some buffing with a buffer wheel. The mill is a Craftex CX-601 from Busy Bee Tools and I installed a 2 axis DRO from DRO Pros. I've seen very similar machines from Grizzly and others. So far I'm pretty pleased with the mill...

    First Milling project

Having recently purchased a benchtop milling maching and equipping it with a DRO, I was looking for a good first project. This one presented itself as neccessary when I got a new steering damper for my BMW F800GS. The dampers design replaced the original bar mounts with a piece that holds the...

    Motorcycle Garages Only

Not tied down at all, we live in a very geologically stable region. While technically we have had earthquakes in this area, they are really only detectable by sensitive seismic equipment. The garbage truck rumbling down the alley will shake the Triumph more than any earthquake is ever likely to. :D

    New Garage Addition

Thanks for the positive comments everyone. I haven't done too much more in the past couple of weeks since holiday stuff has taken over my free time. I plan to get back to the woodworking space after the New Year and finish up the reorganising in there. Then I just have my metalworking and...

    New Garage Addition

Got the woodworking space largely sorted out over the past couple of weeks. I'm pretty much out of time now until after Christmas, so the final finishing touches will have to wait until January. I piped all the machines to the dust collector with 6" metal ducting and upgraded the filter on the...

What would you include in a new garage!

On the what I have now side: I would never go without my radiant floor heat. Attic trusses for extra storage. Sink with hot and cold water supply. The wish I had side: Motorcycle lift recessed flush into the floor. Bigger, space is always valuable (though I all ready went as big as I could...

    Smokehouse display for firefighting.

We sometimes use positive pressurization in exposures to prevent just that sort of spread. The main difference is that you pressurize the exposed occupancy with the fan but don't create an outlet. You do need to ensure the attic or cockloft is opened to allow it to pressurize too. The higher...

    Smokehouse display for firefighting.

We use PPV a lot too, but one rule never to be violated is that the ventilation profile must not be altered with crews inside and must be co-ordinated with the interior crews. The effects can be dramatic and undesireable for interior crews when positive pressure ventilation is stopped, started...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? I used an old hatchback strut to hold open my attic hatch. Good work.

    Smokehouse display for firefighting.

Appears to be more than a few firefighters on this site. Nice training tool you've built. It's always hard to do live fire training to practice and demo ventilation, that will be a huge asset in teaching good ventilation practices. Lastly, monkeys are climbers, they climb things like...

    Canadian Tire DEALS

I'm a sucker for buying drill bits on sale. I picked up one of those sets. Seems one can never have too many of the small sizes. I also grabbed a couple of the goose neck LED worklights in the weekly flyer to use for machinery lamps. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2

Do you have a mixed use shop/garage?

I've got a bit of everything goin on in my garage; wood work, welding, metal work and machining, motorcycle parking and repair, auto parking and maintenance and more. I've struggled to find space for everything and to keep it all seperated and orderly, but am getting it closer to what I want...
