Tin Snips, I need a GOOD pair!

Hey guys, Been friggin around with cheap tin snips for too long. I need a pair that will actually cut sheet metal (not just the paper thin stuff either) without giving my hand a cramp or requiring curse words and grunting! Can anybody reccomend a good brand/model/size?? I don't mind paying...

    Are these burrs any good

Thanks for the tips about aluminum. What about regular carbon steel? Should I just go for the single cut or double? Most reccomended sizes still straight cylinder and 'fat round top' Christmas tree? Thanks Tim

    Are these burrs any good

Carbide Select looks good (the other place has a $250 mininum international order policy). So which actual sizes/shapes would you guys reccomened for general duty carbon steel/aluminum (multi-purpose) shaping/grinding. Looking for the longest lasting item (doesn't need to cut ultra-fast/etc)...

Old Webster Air Compressor - Thoughts?

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems the general consensus is he is asking too much. My gut was telling me that as well. Just not sure I should just offer him a lot less and see if he bites, or just wait for another deal to come along. Probably the later. Thanks Tim

Old Webster Air Compressor - Thoughts?

Interesting, so I would just switch it on when needed and off when not. Shouldn't use too much more electricity then the 'other' way (fill up and shut off motor, pressure drops so you turn on the motor). There is no real way to check the inside of the tank is there? Tim

Old Webster Air Compressor - Thoughts?

Hey guys, Person is selling an old Canadian made (Webster) compressor locally. Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts/opinions/etc on the Webster brand and this particular compressor Information from the seller states: - 1.5hp motor, running 10.5 amps at 220V - tank is 5-7 gallons...

    1 ton arbor press useful?

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I'll pass then. I don't find myself doing bearings and the like too often. I was wanting it more for bushings and ball joints. I guess I'll just hold out for a bigger hydraulic one. Thanks Tim

    1 ton arbor press useful?

$35 CAN.. so pretty darn cheap. The big presses will take up too much room in my shop, so if this little guy will do the job for my smaller 'car stuff' then it'll make better sense for me. Anybody have one of these?

    1 ton arbor press useful?

Hey guys, there is a 1 ton arbor press on sale at Princess Auto (Canadian versoin of HF). • 4-3/4" dia. working surface • 4-1/2" stroke Weight: 34 lbs I was thinking this could be used for pressing out suspension bushings, ball joints, press fit sleeves and bushings, and stuff like that...

What blade to cut wood with 14" chop saw?

Thanks for the replies guys. After looking a bit at 14" blades, your suggestions to just buy a cheapie mitre saw seem to be the best idea, as most of the blades are $100 anyways. Thanks

What blade to cut wood with 14" chop saw?

Hey guys, have a 14" chop saw here with a 1" arbor and max 3800 rpms. Want to do some 'non-precision' cutting of 2X4's etc. Can anybody reccomend a bland manufacturer/model and source for such a task? I understand the need to support the stock on both sides of the cut and will 'rig something...

    18X20 - Insulation Reccomendations

Don't take this comment the wrong way, but can anybody reccomend any other 'heating / construction' type forums I can post the above questions? I really don't want to waste time and money doing it the 'wrong way' and I really have no idea what the 'right way' is. Thanks Tim

    Proper chimney for woodstove?

Yes, it seems to me to be double wall through the wall. The center pipe is 'insulated' from the white penetration piece by what looks like exhaust header wrap (heat insulation). So I only need the 'through wall' piping to be double wall, everything else can be single wall (as long as I meet...

    18X20 - Insulation Reccomendations

The 'siding' on the underneath of the soffits have a bunch of little holes in them (you can see pictures in the 'chimeny for a woodstove' thread I started). I'll assume those are the vents. so I want the edges of the 'ceiling' to be open air to the attic? I will fill in the gaps in the attic...

    Proper chimney for woodstove?

Hi guys, This steel chimney setup was installed when I moved in. Is it the proper chimney for a woodstove? If these pictures aren't detailed enough I can take more. Any features I should be looking for would also be appreciated. Thanks Tim

    18X20 - Insulation Reccomendations

Hi guys, I'm new here. Stumbled upon the site and think it is just great! I finally have a garage after 10 years (since I was 16) friggin' around with old cars in the driveway or other folks garages (always in a hurry to get things done and out of their way, no fun!). It is a small 18X20...

    Mr Heater On Sale

Few questions, Anybody in Canada buy from NorthernTool before? I'm hoping the shipping isn't crazy (and they can avoid high duty costs somehow?) Maybe they drop ship from a Mr. Heater supplier in Canada? Also, curious approximately how much propane one uses say per month in the winter in a...
