Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

Got it, thanks. Seems that would be more visually distracting than PVC run along the ground. And the pvc can be painted to make it blend in better. I'd need to paint it anyway to give it some UV protection.

Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

Understood, thanks. I would check the slope of gutter using a garden hose before going that route. Here's an overhead shot. Two downspouts for this hip / upper roof, both downspouts are 2x3. Gutters along entire front, rear and left sides of this hip roof. On right side of hip roof (where it...

Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

I understood the part about upsizing front downspout from 2x3 to 3x4 and closing off rear downspout - that might be a good solution. "just run more aluminum downspout from the back into the front." I didn't understand this part. Please can you elaborate? Both downspouts are coming off the same...

Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

Are you suggesting maybe angle the gutter differently to flow toward a different corner of the house?

Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

You used Sch. 40 PVC? I assume the break didn't occur from water freezing (because there shouldn't be any more than a trace amount of standing water), but from the PVC joint freezing and cracking?

Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

I assumed it turns right away since there isn't a lot of fall in the front yard, but I'll dig to check.

Tying gutter downspout together with above ground pvc?

Update with pics for those who have been following along, jump to post #24. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This gutter downspout on the side of the house toward the rear, used to dump into this narrow strip of dirt...

more efficient use of shelving space in garage to hold smaller items?

Agreed. This sounds pretty good, and seems that is what @LeeG is doing. I've found that when you pile ziploc bags into a tote, it can take a while to find a particular bag, especially smaller bag containing a small item. That's one reason why the 15 quart containers Lee is using appeal to me -...

more efficient use of shelving space in garage to hold smaller items?

For tools, accessories, and supplies that aren't large enough to take up floor space or hang on the wall, I have shelves, tool chest and cart drawers, and parts cabinet drawers. I have a slight excess of shelving, but I'm out of parts cabinet drawers. I mean this kind of drawer (mine are...

Trenching with a pressure washer to avoid cutting sprinkler pipes?

I've had to repair a few sprinkler lines, so I know they aren't deep. If they were a foot deep, I would skip pressure washer and also skip the shovel and go rent a small trencher.

Trenching with a pressure washer to avoid cutting sprinkler pipes?

I was thinking either a shop vac or a sump pump. Sump pump seems like it would be a lot less labor, but I guess it would need to be one that can handle very muddy water. On a similar note, there are pumps that attach to shop vac discharge port, but I think those pumps may not work with very...

Trenching with a pressure washer to avoid cutting sprinkler pipes?

Want to extend a gutter downspout with underground 3" PVC pipe, but the trench would run past irrigation manifold (so there will be sprinkler pipes here), then run through some landscaping bushes (i.e., roots), and then front lawn that has sprinkler pipes. Instead of digging very slowly and...

OMT blade to bevel installed tile?

I have a diamond grit OMT blade for grout and it did barely anything. Tried carbide blade, and that was too slow. What I ended up using was a Dremel cutting disc, which worked well, which I suppose isn't surprising as it's essentially a micro angle grinder. Took me 4 discs to cut 26" of tile. A...

Are condensor foam coil cleaners better than simply hosing off the condensor's fins?

I've been using foam coil cleaners once every year or two. But I wonder if they are significantly better for the condensor than simply rinsing off the fins with a hose. Anyone have insight on this?

buried drain pipe to move rainwater away from house - what type and how deep?

A dry well would have to be quite large to to not fill up when a significant amount of roof is dumping in there during a heavy rain. But I guess the reason you went with dry well instead of just an emitter like you did for other drains is you don't have good slope by the dry wells.

buried drain pipe to move rainwater away from house - what type and how deep?

Your gutter drain pipes fill up sometimes because of lack of slope? You have less than 1 inch of fall every 8-10 ft?

Sub-$200 pressure washer - useful features?

Sun Joe's model numbering makes no sense to me. Looks like the SPX 3000 has a 14.5 amp motor, while the SPX 3500 has a 13 amp motor. They play all kinds of games with advertised PSI and GPM. I borrowed a neighbor's Sun Joe upright PW and I don't recall tipping being an issue. But clearly...

Sub-$200 pressure washer - useful features?

From what I'm reading, it seems most of the aftermarket attachments for consumer grade PWs use a M22 14mm connection, which I understand is the standard for gas washers. And most of the cheap electric PWs use either M22 15mm connection or a proprietary connection. So I guess eventually I'd want...

Sub-$200 pressure washer - useful features?

As I understand it, sub-$200 electric pressure washers are largely the same in terms of realized pressure and flow rate, regardless of the marketing hype, because they are using a motor designed for 120v circuit. So my question is more about which features do you find useful on a washer, such as...
