Why Do You Buy Tools (Sockets, Wrenches, Bits, Screwdrivers, Hex Sockets) In Sets?

I guess it depends on which type of car you are working on. For example I need a 13mm often. When I was at Carlisle Spring/Fall events, one of the vendors who sells used sockets told me that he gets requests mostly for 10mm sockets as that is the one users lost or broke most often.

Why do wrench sets have missing sizes?!

Ironically today I found out I needed two 16mm wrenches to remove fuel filter connectors. Even more difficult is that they should be flare nut wrenches or crows foot. So yes 16mm are used and when i look at my tools I have a 20mm wrench which is not part of any set and I can see I have used it...

    Race Deck sliding issue

I was away for a few days and saw than my original question got hijacked. But glad to see some genuine replies. Possibly, since I have a smooth epoxy floor underneath rather than an unpainted concrete floor may be causing the problem. I love the Race Deck Free Flow and proved its value this...

    Race Deck sliding issue

I really love my race deck flooring for my two car garage. Only one issue. Once when my wife was pulling car in, she hit the brakes quickly (friont wheels on race deck and rear wheels on driveway)and the whole floor moved forward and buckled. The only way to get it back to normal was pull out...

    Garage dehumidifier???

I use a Danby dehumidifier that I purchased at COSTCO and rated by CR as very efficient. Even if summer when I open the garage door to bring car in or out, the humidity level is back to normal in 10-15 minutes. So well worth it. Agreed temp goes up slightly but is compensated for by lower...

Garage door is no longer flush after liftmaster 8500 install

A combination of adjusting the bracket on the top door panel and adjusting the side rails should do it. Also make sure you have a thick soft rubber type gasket on the door bottom since unlike center rod models the door doesn't pus down hard against the gasket to get a compressed seal.

    bendpak Jp3/jp6, useful or useless?

my 19x19 garage doesn't have any room left for the HF oil drain can. This doesn't take up any valuable real estate and that's why I built it.

    bendpak Jp3/jp6, useful or useless?

I had the same issue as the RJ45 was too tall for the ground clearance of my car. I bought the Jp6 but could not find a bottle jack that met the height requirements. Instead I bought two scissor jacks which sit about 3 inches high. They have worked perfectly for raising the wheels. The jp6 is...

    DIY Car Ramp

Until I purchased my lift, I used rhino ramps for my 2000 740i Sport. However, to give me more height i ran two 2x12 under the rhino's. The extra inches made it easier to get under the 740i sport which sits about an inch lower than the iL I also put a small wood block nailed into the 2x12 so the...

    Different Liftmaster remote light?

I removed the cover and rewired it simply so I can use it with two of the Costco 48" LED lights and fabricated a cover for the remote fixture.

Those with the HF 44" boxes

Ah, mystery solved. My 44" did not come with the clips. Each night when i close the chest the strips are in place and then the next night when I go in the garage they have slipped out. So what is making the plastic and the strip slip out if no one has touched the chest?

    Bendpak Customer Service

i agree. When you have a good customer service experience, others should know. Bend Pak has been extremely responsive on two occasions. So much so that I sent their customer service head an email to let him know how well customer service treated me.

4 post lift, what would you change?

Here's my suggestions for a 4 post Bendpak. Add a cutoff switch to the power unit. Include as an accessory sensor to prohibit lowering the lift if a car is underneath. Cutoff sensor if a car is too close to the ceiling. Another good accessory would be an LED bar light that is the width of the...

ideal garage height to stack 2 cars on a 4 post lift?

I would suggest 12' min if you are building new. While you may store the two Porsches at 10 feet every once in a while you may want to get an SUV on the lift to work on the underside. If an SUV is 72 Inches plus 5-8 inches for ramps and 2-3 inches for height raise to remove locks leaves you only...

2-story carriage house to auto hobby shop

When I lived in DC there was a great two story carriage house across the alley. I used to dream about buying that house just to convert the carriage house into a workshop. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Vehicle Oil Changes: Are you a DIY'er?

With five cars our two, my classic and my two kid's car I have always done the oil changes. Buy oil when on sale and buy filters in bulk. I think DIY'ers do a better job. I let the oil drain to the last drop as many impurities come out at the end. I also use a magnetic drain plug, so I can...

    Run away Bendpak lift

I had also heard of these problems. So I added both a cut off switch and and outlet on the bendpak column. Since I wanted to be able to move the lift I mounted the two boxes on magnetic tool holders strips I purchased at HF. This way if I want to move the lift i unplug the motor unit and pull...
