    Gap between concrete driveway and garage floor?

    I've seen a neighbor laboriously filling in expansion joints in his sidewalks with some sort of grayish gloop. 2" might be a stretch, but I bet there's some near-indestructible compound you can fill the gap with.

    Gloves, what do you wear in the shop?

    Damn, I just use my bare hands, can't stand the loss of dexterity. Gojo cleans things up nice. I'll use medical gloves on brake/trans jobs sometimes (like when I happen to have gloves).

    building advice for new garage

    You can check with your local authoritahs for specifics... they should be able to provide you with setbacks, building restrictions, etc. Put in the slab/driveway, and if it's detached, you can find inexpensive plans online.
