I haven't seen that style of Baldor buffer before. It looks like it is made to allow a bracket (guard or similar) to bolt around its external circumference. You would have to make a custom adaptor bracket to mount a multitool grinder on it.

Yes, I didn't find much information about mounting vertically or on the left side in my searching. That was part of my reason for posting here to get the information out there as it would've helped me.

Yes, you can orient the multitool vertically (or any angle) and it can be mounted on the left side so the platen is facing forward when mounted vertically. Here is mine mounted on a Baldor 7307. The 1/2 hp Baldor powers it very well.
