    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT New 20 x 20 garage/shop in Seattle

Ok, time for an update. It's been a busy summer, focusing mostly on exterior work. Memorial Day weekend I installed a 400 SF paver patio. I used Abbotsford Villa Stone in three different sizes and four colors in a random "pattern". I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I had previously pulled the motor from my green 911, stripped it, and done a full top end rebuild with new cams and some other “while you’re in there” improvements. This last weekend I finished the reassembly of the motor, got it back in the car, running, and took it out for a drive. It was the...

So, after busting **** to get my daughter’s playhouse done for her birthday, I took a little time for my own project this weekend. I had previously pulled the motor from my green 911, stripped it, and done a full top end rebuild with new cams and some other “while you’re in there” improvements...

I ran the whole design past my cousin who is a structural engineer, who blessed it with a suggestion I test it just to be sure. So I put my empty 96 gallon yard waste bin up on the section of extreme cantilever and filled it with 801 lbs worth of water and the structure didn’t even measurably...

I had left over from a commercial project a bunch of 12 foot long 3x8 pressure treated timbers (Douglas Fir) and lots of ceramic coated 6” star drive lag screws, so that is what I built it out of, including the decking. I did pick up some new ½” cold dipped galvanized bolts, washers, and nuts...

And here is my initial sketch of the structure at the vertical supports. The right (east) side shows the structure being supported by the top of the retaining wall, the vertical support landing on the ecology block wall, and the structure cantilevering past the vertical support.

Here is an elevation drawing. I ended up not installing any of the brace knees shown in this drawing as they were not needed.

So, I consider my garage project to be part and parcel with my entire backyard redo project. Thus I will be posting some of that here as well. So, what have I been up to for the last month? Read on! The plan was always to make a play area for my daughter in the backyard, but not have it take...

1/2 Cup - thanks! Dhubbard- yah, the lift call is difficult. You literally have more than 2.5 times as much interior space in your shop compared to mine and YOU are not sure if you have enough space. I just don't have much space to work with. I was thinking Maxjax might be the solution for me...
