It never occurred to me to lay rebar horizontally. I'll take some pics before & after today and let you guys see what I've got going here.

Average cost to lay concrete block

Interesting you should mention that... Here's the plan right now: every 4 feet there is a piece of #4 rebar that is sticking up from the slab by 6". These pieces of rebar will fall into the block cores when layed. After all the blocks are layed, I'm going to set all my anchor bolts (for the...

Average cost to lay concrete block

Yep. I have #4 rebar sticking up about 6" every 4 feet. After the blocks are layed, I'll set my anchor bolts and fill all the cores with concrete. I had a second guy come by this afternoon and quote me $185.00 Not much less, but judging from all the opinions here, I think it's a fair price...

Well, maybe the price isn't so bad then. Anybody else have experience with this?

Average cost to lay concrete block

Well, I did lay about 250 blocks for the foundation. But it's not real pretty and that wat before my daughter was born. I could do it, but if would cost around $100.00 it would be well worth me not doing it. It would probably take me about 3 weekends to lay them all.

Average cost to lay concrete block

I got a quote yesterday to lay blocks on my new slab. It seemes a little high - but just wanted a few opinions... Here's what I have: 32x36 finished slab that I only want one course of blocks layed around the perimeter. There will be 3 openings in the "wall", 2-10' garage door openings and...

    Anyone cut in foundation vents?

What is CMU? I've done that in a concrete block wall - 1/4 masonry bit drilled around the perimeter and try to get each hole as close to the next as possible. Then I just LIGHTLY tapped it with a hammer and it fell out... made a perfectly round hole that way for my drain.

    Floor drain, square or round

I had the same dilemma, round or square. I went with round. In my case, if I went with square, the I'm so **** that I would want to have my control joints running into each corner of the drain. However, my control joints won't work out to meet up with the drain. Also, since concrete is more...

    confused on fibermesh

What is the consensus of fibers with wire mesh, troweled smooth and a sealer applied? Does the "fuzz" have any effect on the sealer?

    Chairs for remesh.

Yeah I've seen those - didn't know if they would work for the remesh too.

    Chairs for remesh.

What are some of you using (if anything) to hold up your remesh during the pour? I found these online, but I need about 400 of them so it might be a little pricey. http://www.buymeshups.com/site/page

    Sealer, Densifier, Curing Compound...OH MY!

According to the product sheet, it can be applied as soon as the slab is able to withstand foot traffic. This says its a hardner or a sealer... not hardener AND a sealer. hmmm. The problem is that there are so many products/companies selling this stuff and, when reading their spec sheets, I...

    Sealer, Densifier, Curing Compound...OH MY!

I've been lurking around here the past few weeks and some of your garages are awesome! I've got a 32x36 "pole barn" that is scheduled to have a slab poured in the next few weeks. My concrete sub. suggested that he power trowel the slab and spray a sealer while the slab is still "green". He...
