Hey guys, I hope this is ok to ask here since its more house related that garage related, but i need a few opinions.
Ive been looking at some options to help supplement my heat pump (with electric backup) here in Ohio. Im not a big fan of the heat pump as it cost big $$ last winter but never...
Hey guys, need to move this bad boy of the garage and make some room. I bought it a couple of years ago when i was more into projects and what not. Heres a link to the model with all of the specs:

Im looking...
what about other parts like bumper brackets, suspension components, ****** crossmember, stuff like that? I was hoping to not have to source all that stuff out for sandblasting, but ive never done any type of blasting before.
Thanks for the info HB. I would definitely look into that as a long term solution, but being as we're only going to be here another winter or maybe two, i was looking for something a little less involved.
The reason for this is because of the astronomical electric bill i received this month...
Saw this picture on buildingscience.com. Possible option? Of course, i wouldnt be able to do this under any of the rooms other than the living room.

Well guys, this is house related, but im hoping i can still post it here!
I need some opinions on what to do about insulating my "crawlspace", though the space is a little weird. The house was built in 1955, about 900sq ft, and has block foundation walls (there are only 1.5-2 courses of...
XPS = the rigid foam board? This what im leaning towards right now....reasonably light, easy to put up and should be just enough "R" to hold some heat in. Im going to try and find a lumberyard to order the 24' wood too.
I thought about that, but have never seen 2x6x24' lumber before (we dont have any "real" lumber places near here). I thought about doing the "ceiling" with the rigid styrofoam board, just to help hold the heat into the bay, then remove it when i leave.
Also, I will prob heat with a hanging...
Hey all, wanted to put a thread up here and get some opinions on how i should insulate and heat my un-ventilated attached garage.
Id like to keep the budget reasonable because this is just an "in between" house for my wife and I for 2-3 yrs while we pay off our lot before we build.
The...
First off, congrats on an unbelievable build.
I was wondering how much that p2000 insulation costs (per sheet)? I read the site and it shows that an inch of p2000 has an R value equal to 6" of fiberglass insulation!
Will that be enough, or do you have plans to use fiberglass between the...
Ill try and answer these the best i can:
- Furnace is forced air. 80% efficient Kenmore put in in 2003. Not sure on the size though, I will have to check.
- There are 2 returns in the living room (large, 13x27 room). 1 return in each of the 3 bedrooms.
- I have sealed all of the exterior...
Unfortunately I dont have any of the bills from last year. The furthest i can go back using the Utility Co's site is Mar 09.
Typically the cost per CCF/Therm is like .50-.60 in the summer and increased to about $1 or so in the winter time.
Guys,
Been readin the forums for quite awhile before i finally signed up. Great place!!
I hope this is ok to post here, as this is the best forum ive found for asking this type of question.
Bought a 1400sq ft ranch in Ohio in 2005, built in 1960 on a full poured basement. It need a LOT of...
