Harbor Freight 5-drawer cart picture review

Do you have confirmation on that? I have a flyer for the sale, but didn’t see it in that. I’ll wait a couple weeks to save $20. From HERE it looks like coupons had been $179 for it and then the price went down to $169 in mid-January. I stopped in and looked at it last night. I now see how it...

Harbor Freight 5-drawer cart picture review

I was just looking at the 7-drawer end cabinet and wondered if anyone hung one off the 5-drawer service cart. That looks like just about what I need. I’m guessing that if you lined the bottoms of the cabinets up instead of the tops the lid would have closed - or notched the top of the 7-drawer...

    Forstner Bit for Drilling Aluminum?

An 1/8” sheet is a bit thick to use a punch - and will likely deform the sheet.

    Forstner Bit for Drilling Aluminum?

I second Chevy’s suggestion of an annual cutter. If you only need the 1/2”∅ you’re probably looking at $20 to $30 for one depending on import or US made. As Damned says, clamp well and use a drillpress or mill. It’ll be hard to get good results with a handheld drill. Like he says, I use what is...

Noob here - please educate me on garage cost.

It is really hard to give a square foot cost without knowing more details, but you’re almost guaranteed to spend more to build something than buying it already there. Estimating a square foot cost for new construction depends on a bunch of factors - local labor rates and construction costs, size...

    Best Compressor you Have Owned

They’re still in the same location, but they no longer make their own ice cream or offer it wholesale. You can get a number of the “old fashioned” flavors there, such as teaberry, butter pecan, black walnut, and pistachio. The old building was set on fire by a disgruntled employee in the early...

Vapor barrier question for those who know

As I said, it won’t give you any R-value. Vapor barrier will slow down some drafts and air barrier will stop them, but they don’t provide any insulating value.

    Fender covers

I agree with what you’re saying. What gets me is when they get something back from paint/powdercoat and immediately start grinding the finish off to weld something on...

    Tearing up the landscape

A concrete truck will even destroy residential paving and compress dry soil significantly. I’ll guess you’re going to be tilling and reseeding your neighbor’s lawn if they drive in. I’d go with Mark’s idea of transporting materials in and pumping the concrete and keep the trucks in the street...

Vapor barrier question for those who know

Nope. Absolutely no R-value from a vapor barrier. Arguing semantics, you could sort of say that an air barrier improves your R-value by eliminating drafts, but that is a stretch.

    Powered Water Heater Vent

How old is your existing water heater? Depending on age and condition, even if you could retrofit it you may be better off replacing it with a direct vent unit.

    Tamko shingles

The other question I’d ask is whether both products are from the same installer? Or two installers with different products? Make sure that everyone is quoting the same work - strip off existing shingles, replace any sheathing and flashing that requires it, new underlayment, new ice shield, etc...

    Powered Water Heater Vent

^^ Yep. Typically the powered vents that go through your wall rather than through your roof are the high efficiency units. One reason they are vented through the wall is that the exhaust isn’t hot enough to rise up the chimney - hence the powered venting and since it is relatively cool you can...

    Tamko shingles

They started in Joplin, Missouri in the 1940s, so they’ve been around quite awhile. They’re a reputable brand, but not as much of a recognized name as Certainteed, GAF, or Owens Corning.
