    750.00 garage

I think it goes without saying that all of us are interested in seeing your plans. I know I'm always looking at and collecting different bench/storage/shelf plans. I'd be interested. What format is it in?

Anyone have a soda machine in their shop?

I had two in my garage at one point, and a snack machine too. Although, I ran a vending business for a while and they were only there for storage purposes. It would be cool to have an old vintage machine, especially the bottle machine like Iron described. It would be loaded with beer though...

    In-floor safes/boxes

If safes are too expensive, you might consider checking out your electrical supply house for a watertight panel box. I worked for a HVAC controls contractor. One job we had was at a water treatment plant. The boxes spec'd were to be watertight and chemical resistant, fumes etc. These were...

List of common materials used to build any size two-story garage

Most electrical, mechanical, plumbing contractor's will not work with materials that are not supplied by them. If you supply material and then they have to go out and get more, they may charge you more if they have to go out of their way to find matching material. You don't want any of those...

List of common materials used to build any size two-story garage

With out a detailed plan, it's hard to quantify the materials you need. The biggest problem is storage. Do you have room to store all the prepurchased material? Also, you might want to ask some contractors if they will work with your material. Some want to purchase it themselves because they...

I think we need an "off-topic" section

Great job! Looks good. Feels good when a project turns out well. Don't kid yourself....even in new construction, rarely is there ever a straight, square, plumb, level surface/wall/anything. That is...unless you do it yourself or pay out the nose for high quality workmanship!

Board of Zoning Appeals: Hearing scheduled

Ben's right. There's also a lot of work that goes on before they get out to the sight as well. Investigation in to the property can sometimes take a while if there's a convoluted history of the property. Getting the original plats from the city/county is sometimes a big issue and time consuming.

New month, new tools: April addition

I want that Delta planer. That's what I wanted to buy but didn't have that much more $$ for it. I decided on the jointer because: 1) I could afford it and 2) Doesn't Norm always joint before he planes?

New month, new tools: April addition

I didn't buy anything in March, but this month I picked up a new Delta Jointer http://www.deltamachinery.com/index.asp?e=136&p=942 Right now at Lowe's it's on sale, 15% off (as well as other power tools) and it has a $25 rebate card offer! Normally $219 - 15%= $186 + tax= $202 - $25 rebate=...

Board of Zoning Appeals: Hearing scheduled

Good luck with the variance. Wetlands issues might be the only concern. Sounds like it'll be a nice garage. One question: why are you seperating the bath and laundry? wouldn't it be cheaper, more efficient to keep all plumbing located together?
