    "Win" a HF 3-ton jack

Found a link to a Harbor Freight survey, take the survey for a chance to "win" a HF 3-ton jack. Just have to cover shipping charges. Has anyone actually taken the survey, get the chance to pick from nine boxes to see if you won a jack? For real or just a scam (likely).

    Buying windows and door

Now that my kitchen remodel is nearing done, I'm planning the next big remodel work. The back wall of my living room needs to be rebuilt. The "architect" designed this house back in 1973 to use two 8' patio sliding doors for the entire 17' span of the south facing living room wall. One all wood...

    Vynil planking on stairs?

For my kitchen remodel I'm using Lifeproof vynil planking. It'll also be the new flooring in the dining room, main long hallway. But I also have a set of stairs from the ground level to the 2nd level of my trilevel home. Anyone used vynil floor planking on stair treads? Glue it down? What to use...

    Cutting concrete pipe

I have two pieces of concrete pipe in my back yard behind the shop. Got moved there when I had them lifted out of the ground alongside the driveway. Previous home may thought to use them as elevated planting tub. One is 73" diameter and is at 24" tall. The other is 45" diameter and also 24"...

    Blum hinge doesnt adjust

I have four Blum 170 degree clip mount hinges that don't adjust. It appears the collar that moves the hinge left- right is out of position or perhaps the thread is the inner rail is stripped out. I cannot get the collar back in position. Anybody know these hinges well enough to guide me?

    Dishwasher "belches"

My diswasher is a older KitchenAid, still works great and I can service it myself. Its to the left of the sink which is set up like an island sink plumbing wise. So the sink drain/vent underneath has the triple risers for the vent system. About two years ago I rebuilt the rotted drain plumbing...

    I'm your fitting guy.....

for hydraulic connections, both port and hose/tube connections. SAE (pipe, flare/JIC, port/O-ring), BSPP/BSPT, ISO/DIN, JIS, GAZ, inch standard, metric standard, etc. I just retired from Parker Hannifin after 30 years in the hydraulic fluid connector market. I've plumbed plows, ZTR's...

    Pumped in insulation

My house is a 1973 built tri-level in east central Wisconsin. It has the usual 2nd level overhangs, cedar siding above over brick on the ground level, overhangs above the brick level are about 12" to maybe 18". I know the house in woefully lacking in decent insulation. Once I gained access to...

    Smart phone boroscope

Technology keeps giving us garage buffs new toys to use, like an inexpensive boroscope for, looking into an engine, looking down a clogged drain line, peeking inside walls. I recently bought a Depstech WF010 boroscope 16' cable camera. Looks to be made ok, haven t used it yet, just charged it...

    Drain tile, 1973 tri-level

The attached sketch details the cross section of my 1973 built tri-level home. I live on a heavily wooded very sandy soil city lot in Green Bay. Many large mature maple and oaks, in the 120'+ hieght range. In heavy rain events I do get just a bit of water ingression in my office end of the house...

    I got garage face

No, not just that face of lust when I see a garage that makes me go "sssccchhwwwingggg". I was working on the brakes of my 09 Ford Escape, and thought I was keeping relatively clean in my work. Later as my wife was saying good night (she's always in bed before me), she said "you got garage face...

    Kinda Blum hinge ignorant

I'm using Blum concealed cup hinges for my new kitchen cabinet doors, 5/8" overlay. i've reworked the old 1973 cabinets which were full face frames with exposed surface mount hinges, and cut the frame stiles back for the newer face frame concealed cup hinges (all new doors). My goal is the...

C.mon,...really,...a portable hand held stick welder for less than $200?

I'm a sucker to even consider something like these handheld stick welders. Yet, the results this guy shows are something to think about: I would not consider buying one on Temu, mostly because I feel any purchase from Temu is just wrong. Amazon has a Saker product for $153...

    Steam/vapor resistant paint

As part of my kitchen remodel I also painted the door panel and control panel of my old Kenmore dishwasher to very closely match my two year old GE fridge and stove. I applied Duplicolor Toyota Phantom Grey Pearl paint after I scuffed up the original ivory finish on the steel door panel. For the...

    Sucking dust yesterday

Rented an electric hammer chisel from HD yesterday to finally get the 2" square tile off the kitchen floor in prep to install new high grade vynil planking. My kitchen is maybe 10x14 open floor area, and I had already used a hammer and cold chisel to remove the tile under the stove and fridge...

    Micky got the chair

Working on installing GFI outlets in my kitchen remodel of my 1973 tri-level house. One outlet box had that distinctive mousy smell, ugh. It was a single box with three 12ga Romex circuits coming into it and all crammed together, with doubled up pigtails under the side screws like was commonly...

    Update my secondary breaker panel?

My home in Green Bay was built in 1973, a tri-level with a basement and 2-car attached garage below the bedrooms. The house has two breaker panels, a 200amp Cutler Hammer Main panel in the attached garage on the east end of the house, and a secondary 100amp Cutler Hammer CH7CS panel in the...

    Concealed cabinet door hinges

So is Blum the only brand to use? I'm mounting all new cabinet doors in my kitchen remodel, changing from the old style exposed hinges on full face frames to cut-back face frames and concealed 5/8" overlay hinges. I have bought mostly Blum products, but there are many other brands out there...

I do nerarly all my own work. Did a complete remodel of our main bath in 2019. Built most of my 24x28 detached shop in 2020 by myself. Last year I started a major kitchen remodel, updated cabinets, new sink, plumbing, all new drawers/pullouts, moving outlets/electrical, built a walk in pantry...

    Barndominum for sale

Friend of mine is selling his barndominum (though I can't understand why), just south of Depere WI (across the Fox river from Green Bay). Its on 20 acres, maybe 15 minutes to Lambeau, downtown Green Bay. I've been in it and the garage space could easily hold a 40+' RV on a lift and not touch the...
