    Shower curb diy

I've been using 2x4 curbs ( KD Fir) with drywall and Kerdi for the last 16 years with zero problems. Sometimes I rip the 2x's down if I'm using a pair of bullnose tiles on the curb and need a particular net width. The "age in place" house I'm building now will have 2 curb-less showers. My...

    Site plan drawing

Maybe Pierce County is more lenient than Whatcom County or San Juan County but I wouldn't think about doing any "clearing" with out at least a land disturbance permit and probably a critical areas survey. Features, such as wetlands, aren't always obvious. They're a habitat basically and can be...

    Shower plumbing

Your copper and brass look awful, have you checked the PH of your water? I don't believe hard water has anything to do with your corrosion. I've been using PEX A from Uponor (Wirsbo) with EP expansion fittings exclusively for the past 15 years, the installation is foolproof and I have had -0-...

    Shower mixing valve stud spacing

I'm a plumber and a builder, I also do my own tile work, actually, when I build houses for myself, as I'm doing right now, I do everything solo, with the exception of the Electrical, heating, insulation, and drywall.

    Shower mixing valve stud spacing

12" is fine. I put a 2x flat at the back of the stud bay to attach the valve to. With a Delta valve the depth is perfect for 1/2" drywall, Kerdi Membrane and 3/8" tile.

    New/Different Pine Plywood at HD?

It's Radiata Pine from China. The top ply is very thin and brittle, it has voids. Russian BB is twice as good, of course it costs twice as much.

What sized TLB for building my house

It's a B2650 25 hp. I dug out and moved a bunch of rocks like this leveling this 1/4 acre lot. You can do just about anything with a small machine, it just takes more time.

    Positive Placement nail gun

I have a Bostich Framing Nailer with an interchangeable positive placement tip. It comes in handy since lot of hangers require 16d nails. I also have a Strap Shot for shooting Tico nails, it fits in much smaller spaces.

How to move from MD to TX with a big a** toolbox!

I second the rollback suggestion. Well worth the money. When I was trucking we used local tow companies quite often when we stacked cars in our trailer or to get things to the ground that were over our lift gate capacity, like CT Scanners.

Bearing length question on a beam

You could raise your LVL's to top of joist and hang them off of it. Of course, if you're using engineered joists just make them full length.

First Cordless Drill - Milwaukee or Makita

I have four Makita 18V drills/drivers and two Milwaukee M12's I only use the Makita's when I can't find a Milwaukee. And I'll waste a lot of time looking.

Tree root ball under new slab

You can dig it out with a little backhoe or excavator, it just takes more time. This Cedar stump took about half a day. My little Kubota can barely lift it.
