8" drill press, needs a motor and Im thinking outside the box

Those new treadmills are not the ones getting sold. The ones getting sold have been used sporadically the first year, had clothes stored on them the second year, and then finally got in the way of the next "trash waiting to happen" purchase on the third year!

Anyone have a recent 'What the hell went on here?" moment with their house or garage?

"What the hell happened here" was a common saying when my kids were young and living at home. When I say it around the house now, I get the "there are only two of us living her, so if you didn't do it, who do you think did!" 😄

    Steel Sources

What are Lucy's Steel Supply prices like? It looks like they have a decent selection.

Why did tool cabinets get so expensive?

Most company balance sheets are looking fatter than they were pre Covid/stimulus. It's looking like the price increases enticed manufactures to not only "pass on" increase costs, but to add a good deal of additional profit for themselves.

Suggestions for a local company or chain that can mix a paint code (2 stage)

I wouldn't expect it to be cheap, but if you want a close match, it's really the only way to go.

Quick Question on mounting upper kitchen cabinets

I'm thinking that the 1/2" nailers will be adequate. Screw all the adjoining cabinets together creating a solid bank in all of that row, and you should be able to load then up with whatever you like.

i need to build a work bench for the place of employment

You mention that steel costs too much, but by the time you buy all that wood and hardware, you're going to have a chunk of change wrapped up in a frame that will be hard to keep from getting loose and wobbly over time. If it were me, I would build the frame out of rectangular metal tube with...

Suggestions for a local company or chain that can mix a paint code (2 stage)

I would look for an auto body shop that you can take a fuel door into and have them mix and match up a pint. Have your make/model/paint code to get them close. A good shop can do a good match for you.

    Nominating Worst tree

Not so much the worst tree, but the worst planting of a tree. I have a neighbors blue spruce that was planted 5' from the property line, and fast forward 50 years, now we have a 100' tree that drops sap, pine cones, and needles within a huge radius. My house is close enough on that side of the...

    4 cycle string trimmer

One more vote on the EGO straight shaft string trimmer. It's so nice to go out and just start trimming without sloshing gas around. The auto wind feature of the trimmer is the best execution of a winding spool I've ever seen. The bump unwind just works - no bumping over and over trying to get...

Removing label adhesive - what to use on stubborn goo?

I've had good luck with WD40 on the label/goo, letting is soak in for a minute, then using a plastic scraper to get the majority of the stuff off, then wiping the rest off. Sometimes you need a couple applications, but the WD40 dissolves the adhesive and creates a film preventing it from just...

    Eave Overhang Length?

I have a 1965 ranch with 24" overhangs and I love them! It keeps most of the rain/snow away from the foundation. If I built a home I would not change a thing!

Set of .289" Coil Springs for Old Heavy Wood Garage Door

Second vote for DDM Garage Doors. They list .289 diameter spring wire in their selector drop down under Commercial/Industrial applications. They also have some similar measurements on the standard door spring selector (.283, .295) I bought high cycle replacement springs from them, and they...

    Engine for kitchen build?

You can do a lot in a small space. My first engine rebuild was a 1972 Honda SL175 motorcycle engine (two cylinder 175). I was 14 at the time, and rebuilt it in my bedroom in a ~ 3' X 4' cement mixing bin. I protected my floors with a carpet remnant and plastic. My parents were less than happy...

    battery powered lawnmowers

I've adopted the EGO line for my string trimmer and blower for 1 year and a half. The EGO batteries interchange and they have both been rock solid gear. The blower is more powerful than my old temperamental mixed gas Ryobi, and the string trimmer has a self wind feature that makes replacing line...

    ladder storage solution ideas?

I would be doing some horizontal wall mounted supports at a few different levels. Group similar length ladders together on the same levels to avoid pulling ladders off to get at a long/short one. I would be putting the really long ones on the level closest to waist level to make moving those...

Rustoleum spray cans - absolute garbage

One more vote for warming up the cans. I've had the spurting problem, heated the cans up in some hot water, and then they sprayed as expected. This has worked for me.

Need help with Craftsman toolbox drawer

That looks tweaked pretty good! To get the drawer out, you will have to move the clips out of the way with a small flat blade screwdriver in the area circled in orange. The clips are behind the rails and can be moved out of the way through that small opening in the circles area. You will need to...

    Auto darkening welding helmet

One more vote for the Lincoln Viking 3350. My previous helmet was an older autodarkening Speedglass fixed shade, and the visibility difference with the new blueish tint of the Lincoln is miles ahead of my old helmet! I love that thing!
