    Plywood Or Melamine Or...?

One more vote for laminate countertop. Cheap and holds up pretty good!

    Garage Door issue

Garage door companies replace these fairly cheap in my area, but one watch out is that they don't give you "builders grade" springs with low expected duty cycles. You will be replacing them again in 5 to 10 years when they fail. I replaced mine by myself without prior experience. I watched...

Strange problem with LiftMaster garage door opener

I know most of us here on this site enjoy the fact that we can fix almost everything, but in my opinion, fixing an opener to the control board level would qualify for the saying "throwing good money after bad". I would get a new modern opener and you can improve features, security, and have...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Valve cover and spark plug tube gaskets on my 2002 Nissan Frontier 2.4L 5MT. It sure is nice to work on simple 4 bangers that have easy access! It's at 180k and still running great.

    Shop speakers/sound system

You cant beat a lot of the quality vintage amps and speakers, but for convenience sake, I put in a pair of Google Nest Audio speakers. As long as you have a good wireless signal in your garage, they will work great. There is no connecting your phone by plugging it in, or connecting it by...

    Looking for Cheap Shed Windows

I built my shed with vinyl windows from home depot. They aren't that expensive, you will never have to paint them, and they slide open/closed easily. They have special order windows that were returned/not picked up marked to clearance prices quite often, if you can be flexible on size.

    Tumbler or Ultrasonic

I restored a Honda 1974 CB350, and I used a soda blaster to clean a lot of the parts. It doesn't degrade the surface being cleaned , and can be cleaned out of areas with regular water. It works good on small parts, as well as cylinder fins, cases, etc.

    Snow-shovel Wear Strip Replacement

I stitch welded a piece of 1" X 1/8" on the backside edge of my old steel shovel. A couple new coats of paint and it's good for another 10 years! I ground a bevel at the edge of the wear strip to match the angle where it meets the cement. After a short time of wearing in, it will do a decent job...

    Shop Stereo Options; Lets Discuss

Listening to a set of HPM-100's through a SX-1080 as we speak. I bought this new in 1978 when I was in high school! Still sounds excellent, but I would never think of putting it in a garage!

TOOLBOXES - GOT TO BE A SCAM

If Facebook spent 1/10th the amount of effort on scammers that they do on censoring political views that are contrary to their own, we wouldn't be talking about this right now! Facebook only cares about you providing data to them for free, so that they can sell that data to other parties. Why...

    Making a fence climb proof

Have you watched World War Z? Those zombies scaled a 100' wall! You don't stand a chance!

    Awesome work light!

His house is situated directly under a 330kv power line. For some reason, he has never had to recharge his flashlights since new!

Shop Basics - The Over Looked Items

One of my favorite upgrades has been putting most of the main garage lighting on a motion sensor. You walk into the garage and it lights up automatically, no matter where you enter at. The controller I bought has a variable off timer. I originally bought an expensive ($60) sensor made by...

    Compressor Motor Issue

Do you have a motor service shop in your area? Take that motor down to them and have them load test it. They will be able to tell you if your motor is performing correctly, or if there is a problem. Most motor service/rewind shops will test your motor for free. You dont want to guess and start...

    WTF? My hot water heater

This is easily explainable. The piping that was used to connect from the pex to the tank was previously used as witching rods, and as expected, were forced into a crossed position because, duh, there was a bunch of water underneath them! Why does everyone make this so hard? :):)
